Gingerbread Houses and The Last Jedi

Our grandsons built their own gingerbread houses last night.  Aren't they cute?  :-)  Kristi bought two kits for them to use.  Our son worked with them while they constructed and decorated them.  This is Caleb's house.

This is Hayden's house.

I crocheted another light bulb ornament.  I'd made a whole rainbow of them last year and then proceeded to give them all away as gifts.  So, I want to make some other colors for my own tree this year.

I bought some colorful baby alpaca yarn a while back and decided to roll the skein into a ball.. at the very beginning of the rolling it turned into spaghetti, poor Dayle worked on undoing, then I did, then he did.. and we finally got it rolled up.  Sheesh.  I am thinking of making some leg warmers.  My ankles always get cold in the winter.  More on that later.

A few of my favorite ornaments.. this is an Airstream trailer ready for Christmas.

This adorable little monster flew across the country to me, I adore it.  Thank you.

I also like this glass cloche with a penguin and a couple of trees in sparkly snow.

A flag of England as a nod to my UK blog friends.

We went to see the new Star Wars, The Last Jedi, on Saturday!  Kristi got us tickets at the Cinetopia in Vancouver, it has reclining seats which are pretty comfortable.  I *LOVED* this movie from beginning to end.  I got teary eyed a few times.  I won't go into details, but it was a fabulous movie full of humor, adventure, excitement, tenderness and enlightenment.  Dayle and I attended the very first Star Wars movie on it's first showing in Oregon in May 1977.  Our youngest was just a year old, we had to get a babysitter to go.  I will never forget how amazing that movie was.  This one completes a circle for me.

Dayle saw the back surgeon a week ago and they got a cancellation for surgery for this Thursday so they asked Dayle if he wanted to take it and he did.  SO.. please send your good thoughts and prayers his way that this goes smoothly and he will recover fast to much less pain.  I will be there with him and we will all take good care of him post op.

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Cute gingerbread house memories! I have biscotti in the oven now. Love holiday baking!
Oh, I get the yarn dilemma...every time I "unskein" it into a ball...what a tangled mess.
Best wishes to Dayle...I know several people who have found relief with back surgery.

  2. Thinking of you as you prepare for Dayle to have back surgery. Great that he got in earlier - that chronic pain is tough. My husband has had three back surgeries - they got easier each time!

Those adorable gingerbread houses have made me very hungry!

  5. Such cute gingerbread houses. Those boys have got talent! Love those crocheted ornaments too. I’m seeing lots of vintage stuff this year. Dennis does most of my yarn untangling too. He’s much more patient with it than I am. So glad Dayle is getting his surgery earlier than planned. I hope it gives him much needed relief. I’m supposed to be having a CT scan of my head soon...but they’re arguing with the insurance right now so we’ll see. It always something. Have a great week and give Dayle our best.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. Children always show their imagination and creativity when building gingerbread houses. The boys did a good job for a first time. I've seen them made out of graham crackers, little houses, so adorable. Love the bulb ornaments. They would be a quick project and even help embellish a wrapped package. Using yarn with a metallic thread would make them sparkle on the tree. Hope Dayle does well with his surgery and makes a speedy recovery.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  8. The gingerbread houses look very cute, love them. We usually make one but have cut out large shapes from the gingerbread dough this year instead. We'll decorate them to give to teachers tomorrow. It is lovely that your tree ornaments each have a memory to go with. I will be thinking of Dayle when he has surgery on Thursday. I am glad there was an opening for surgery, you must be all relieved. xx

  10. The gingerbread houses look great.

I thought you might be interested To know that the Union Jack was created in 1801 and combines parts of the English flag, a red cross on a white background, the flag of Scotland, a white saltire on a blue background and the red saltire to represent Ireland, only Wales doesn't get a representation of it's flag on the Unitied Kingdom flag.
