Yarn Snarl, Eggs and Buddy

Hi there!  This was how I spent some time this week.  Newly groomed Buddy, warm on my lap, rippling away, by the fire, tv on.. good old wintertime hibernation going on here.

And of course.. as almost always happens.. a big old snarly mess.  Dayle works on it for a while, then I work on it, then he does.. :-)  One interesting thing about this pattern is there is a definite RIGHT side of the blanket and a WRONG side.  What you see above is the right side and below is the wrong.  See the difference?

Our dear little Cairn Terrier was looking quite bedraggled... so Dayle took him to the groomer last Friday and he's been looking quite dapper since he returned home.

Our little hens never stopped laying this winter but did slow down, and now that the daylight is increasing a bit, they're coming back to laying more.  Look at those wonderful dark yellow yolks!  I used these 3 to whip up and add to some sauteed ham chunks and mushrooms for lunch yesterday.

Kristi is marking the eggs as we get them so we can make sure to use the older eggs first.  :-)

I want to thank you readers who left supportive comments on my last post.  I know not everyone agrees with me and I especially appreciate it when you can accept me as I am and how I feel and still be respect how I feel.  And for those of you who expressed your support from around the world - I love you for that.  Please know that over half this country does not condone the bigotry and childish behavior that is occurring in our country's capital.  I can only hope that in our next election this year that we get more even tempered and ethical leaders to win offices around the country.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. We’re having lots of rain over here which is fine with me. No snow is always good. I love how your blanket is coming along. The colors are wonderful. Dennis helps me with snags in yarn too. I’m not always patient, especially if I’ve Been working at it for awhile. Buddy is looking very handsome with his new haircut. Stay warm and dry Teresa. Boy I’m glad you weren’t camping at the coast last week. Wasn’t that something?
    Blessings,

  2. Dear little Buddy, he is looking even more adorable than normal. Bertie will be having a trim soon, from long-haired hippy to short and smart I think. Although we all quite like the scruffy look. A dog, a fire, crochet and tv sounds utterly blissful. I sorted out a big tangle in my yarn and suddenly I'm knitting again. The big mess was putting me off. Took me ages to unravel it, but worth doing. Enjoy the rest of your week Teresa. CJ xx

  3. The perfect place to be, snuggled up with a furry partner on these winter days. I left a comment on another post but I don't know if you got it. Thanks for sharing more about your low-carb eating. Are you following a specific plan?

  4. What a sweet face, that Buddy! Our Jagger got his "do" last week and he is super huggable now, although he doesn't really want to be hugged. :-) We have a routine of neck scratches and belly rubs, though. Your blanket is looking fantastic! The election in November will be a very important one...I hope everyone goes out to vote and flip congress!

  7. Your ripple is looking lovely Teresa. The yarn arrived for mine yesterday and I got straight into it as I need to finish it for my eldest daughter's birthday. Mine is 45 inches by about the same, square and I'm using Stylecraft DK which is really nice. Had to buy it from LoveKnitting in the UK. Oh my, doesn't Buddy look smart!! He'll be right for quite awhile now. Give him a hug for me. xox

  8. Your crochet hook must be on fire you really are working well on your afghan, I love the wonderful array of colour. Gerard is helping me unravel some wool that is a bit of a nightmare but will be worth it in the end. Your little pooch Buddy is gorgeous, very handsome. Good for you going on the march and standing up for those that can't. Have a good day.

  10. What a sweet little dog! You are lucky to have Dayle untangle your yarn mess, I have to do my own :-(
I hope Dayle has fully recovered, I have been thinking of him. I know this may sound a bit weird considering we have never met but I feel that we all get to know each other via our blogs. x

  17. You do look cozy with your pretty new blanket and handsome Buddy :-) The eggs look yummy. We have been working on a new puzzle and I am trying to crochet a round using Lucy's pattern like you suggested as a base for a slouchy hat like you suggested. xx

  18. Beautiful colors in your blanket. Honestly, I never really knew what was a wrong and right side. In fact, I had been all wrong about the right side of a granny square. Kept wondering why folks kept turning it to what I thought was the back. Anyone who is not a crocheter will never know the difference, that's for sure. Buddy sure is a handsome little fella.

  20. And this is exactly why you are my favorite blogger...gorgeous photos, wonderful life...and a wonderful family! I support your low-carb regime, and wish I had taken that route rather than bariatric surgery. Nothing prepared me for the brutality of it!
