Midnight Moonwalk

So. Last night Dayle read online that the moon was right next to Venus.  WELL.  You know I had to go out and see what kind of amazing spectacle I would see in the sky.  My friends, there was no moon to be seen at all.  Not a sliver, nothing.  But I did enjoy being out on the deck in the warmth of a summer night.  I snapped a photo of the back of the house lit within.  Do you love seeing homes lit at night?  I do.

We've got the gazebo lights on a photo cell timer so it's neat to see when they automatically pop on when dusk falls.

Dayle has all the pond lights going and they also come on at dusk.

My chair ready for a night-time visit.  We had a BBQ on Saturday, a friend of our sons came and brought her little girl and met us for the first time.  We all got a kick out of the 2 and a half year girl who loved the dogs and playing with our grandsons.  Shawn, our older son, did the BBQing of the chicken and made macaroni and cheese, baked beans and potato salad.

Earlier in the day I noticed a pot of geraniums that Dayle had wintered over - it was a magenta colored flower, and poof, out of nowhere there was another bright orange-y red flower blooming in the same pot.  Hmm.. how did that happen?

A quick snap of the flower basket.

I just talked to my daughter Amy and we might be going to see Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes, while I'm there visiting.  She said there is a lighthouse there and islands to visit.  That's an exciting idea!  Two weeks until departure! What are you up to this week?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I know you’re just so excited to go see Amy and the girls. There’s nothing like grandchildren. I enjoyed seeing your nighttime photos. Dennis just put some puck lights on our deck stairs that go on and off automatically at night to make it easier for Chloe to see. As she gets older her eyesight is beginning to fail. At the lake we have a fountain with a light in it that comes on and off at dusk when we’re there. There’s something about little spots of brightness in the dark that always make me feel safe. I, too, like to look at houses that are lit up from within. I don’t know if I’m nosy or I just like to see how people decorate. I want to think it’s the latter! Ha ha! Have a lovely day Teresa and stay cool.
    Blessings, Betsy

  2. Your lighted house and deck look very warm and welcoming. The trip to visit you daughter and family sounds wonderful! I hope you'll share photos of what you see. We're staying inside with the A/C to keep cool. Will spend next weekend at the coast so definitely should be more comfortable over there.

  3. With a tall glass of iced tea, and a ceiling fan wafting cool air over me as I sit on my recliner I am enjoying a break from the chores I was doing, and enjoying your post. I like seeing homes with windows lit at night, too. So excited about your trip and seeing another lighthouse is always a positive to this Saylor :-) xx
