We had our family celebration on Christmas eve as our son's family planned to spend the big day in their new home together. We served roast beef, potatoes and gravy, glazed carrots and fresh baked scissor rolls for dinner. Then retired to the living room to open presents and enjoy each other's company. Our three grandsons and the new puppy.
We surprised the boys with their first laptop computer, they were pleased!
Smile, Kristi! :-) She was Santa Claus and passed out the gifts with the help of the boys. I got her a t-shirt she liked, it had a VW bus being driven by a hippie chick and the words across the top.. "On a dark desert highway"... and under the VW "Cool wind in her hair". :-)
It was all about watching the older dogs trying to figure out who this other furry creature was.
A momentary quiet time.
I asked to hold the puppy on several occasions.. he would snuggle into my neck and let me hold him for exactly 10 seconds before wanted down. Ozzie is a doll.
Then he'd crawl down to the footrest of my chair and whine as he was scared to jump down.. then he'd gain the courage and go leaping off!
Want to see some of the treasures gifted to me? My daughter Amy in Ohio sent this darling Santa to me. *love*
Kristi gave me these fun things and a bag of goodies, caramel corn, mints and almond roca.
Dayle braved the antique stores in Troutdale and surprised me with this pretty etched glass decanter.. it's so pretty!
Speaking of Dayle, he loves the soft flannel plaid shirt I got him, along with a trail camera he can place by our pond and we can see what wildlife that visits our pond for a drink during the night. Amy sent him this Pendleton mug and chocolate covered hazelnuts and Travis and Kristi got him an ash vacuum to clean the pellet stove.
And so.. the last item in my advent calendar box from Alicia Paulson. I didn't get to open #25 MYSELF as my son's German Shredder deprived me of the honor and opened it herself. Luckily she did not ruin it.
I'm about halfway done on the cowl that Alicia designed. I think this will be so nice to wear over the winter to keep my neck and shoulders warm!
My dear husband held the skein of yarn while I rolled.. and rolled.. it's fine yarn and it became a big ball! I am wondering what this should become.. any suggestions?
Knit, knit, knit.. it is fun to decide which little colored skein to use next.
I had to move my merry-go-round off the dining room table for our Christmas eve dinner, so I moved a small rattan table to the family room and put the big doily on it that Betsy crocheted for me. Dayle thinks it's distracting from his tv. LOL!
My adorable granddaughters, Jenna (r) and Paige (l) on Christmas morning! They are so cute in their matching jammies! I am so glad I got to spend time with them this last summer.
We had a good Christmas.. lots of fur babies and adult children and growing grandsons. We face-timed with our grandson Gabriel who lives in SoCal with his mom last evening and he loved the laptop we sent to him.
I hope you enjoy this week between Christmas and New Years. I have always claimed it as a week of being home and enjoying no appointments or commitments. Please share with me what YOU like to do during this week.

Your time with your family looks so wonderful Teresa. The girls are sprouting up! Wow, so tall now. I love your warm home so festively decorated. Enjoy your quiet week. I am working tomorrow and Friday, but then will have the next four days off. Hooray!
ReplyDeleteYour celebrations look wonderful Teresa and Ozzie is so gorgeous. We had a fab time with our family and intend to rest up a bit tomorrow! Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your Christmas Day. The new puppy looks so cuddly - what breed is he? We had our usual Christmas - my 2 daughters, 2 grandsons and myself - our whole family ... oh and of course Quincy our dog. My daughter and 4yo grandson who live with me have gone to Sydney for 2 days and so I’m just relaxing now as its so hot. 38 degrees C which is 100.4 F. Too hot for anything and thank goodness for air conditioning. All the best with a fantastic 2019. Xox
ReplyDeleteHi Dorothy! Ozzie is from your land.. an Australian Shepherd! I'm glad to hear from you and so glad you were surrounded with your loved ones at Christmas!!

Hi Teresa, it looks like you had an absolutely wonderful Christmas with your family and all of the furbabies there. I’ll bet those boys were thrilled with their new laptops. That was very generous of you and Dayle. You both received some beautiful gifts. I love the T-shirt that you got for Kristi. The picture fits her perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad to see you’re still enjoying the doily I made you. It was fun to think of you as I crocheted it. You know that ball of yarn would make a lovely pair of socks! You could crochet them if you didn’t want to knit them. I would love to take part in a yarn advent calendar next year, but I always miss the cut off dates for ordering.
We got about 4 inches of snow this evening. I didn’t even know it was coming!
Dennis had to go back to work today for the rest of the week, but then he has four more days off. That will be nice and I’m guessing it will be another quiet weekend at our house. Thanks for sharing your Christmas with us.
Blessings always, Betsy
What a wonderful Christmas you all had! It is lovely to see all your family so very happy. xx
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year, Teresa. I love your blog. Thank you. Best wishes, Abi xx
ReplyDeleteI like to enjoy the lights and look forward to the NEw Year. LAst year brought so many changes. I'll be making a list of them for my husband and I to go over.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful family Christmas with your family and your furry family! The decanter is beautiful. Dayle did well as I can't imagine my husband braving an antique shop, although he did brave a yarn shop for me for Christmas :) It's all quiet around here this week although we're hoping to get out and about with the kids this sometimes. xx Susan
ReplyDeleteSoon after Christmas, Japanese people start preparing for the year-end and New Year’s events.
ReplyDeleteCompared to Christmas, many of these events are based on Japanese tradition and are deeply related to religion.
The end-of-year party is called “bonenkai” in Japanese. “Bonen” means to forget (the worries of) the past year.
People are busy with events on New Year’s Eve.
I'm glad you had a good time with family. Nice gifts too. The yarn from your advent calendar is nice and good way to stock up on yarn and other fun items. I worked 3 days and today was a bit stressful but made it thru. I go visit my brother tomorrow and take him out to lunch. Our late Christmas get together. HaPpY NEw YeAr to u and Dayle. 🎄⭐🍰
ReplyDeleteI don't think anything could distract from that tv. Ha! Looks like you certainly had a very active and fun-filled Christmas with lots of lovely gifts. I'm taking this time between to get some projects and cleaning done so 2019 starts off fresh.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a lovely time Teresa. Wonderful memories made with your family. Hugs Anne X
ReplyDeleteFun to see highlights of your family celebrations! There were six of us together on Christmas day, and we enjoyed the roast beef dinner. Grantie made yorkshire pudding as a treat that Elisabeth especially likes. We had some wooden puzzles to challenge us as well :) xx
