Cozy Creating

There is something so uplifting and satisfying about creating a blanket from lengths of string... or yarn.. this craft goes so far back that I doubt anyone knows when the first person took long fibers, twisted them together and then made knots to create cloth.  I got behind in my deadline of Friday to finish week 4 and had to crochet like a madwoman on Saturday to catch up.  Now I will have to do the same to meet the Friday deadline.. but that's okay with me.  :-)

After the last row of crochet on Saturday I spent Sunday weaving in the ends so it was all nice and tidy.

As a person who has embraced the color pink into my life at this late age, this blanket has hit the mark for me clear to the center of my being.  I love, love, love how this is looking.  The fact that Lucy at Attic24 pulled these colors from the actual colors found in Sweet Peas and their stems and leaves makes this feel organic, too.

This is one whole color repeat.

It won't be long until this is done, I will be doing a border on it as Lucy always puts a lovely edging on her blankets.  I usually don't as I like them as is.. but I'm doing the whole 9 yards on this one.  I think of this one as my blanket pièce de résistance.  :-)

Are you expecting a Mocha mug shot?  OK, I'm happy to oblige.  We are just loving this little creature.  She is sweet natured, fun to watch play with Meeka.

Dayle is quite literally besotted with her.  :-)

Our younger son and his family came to visit on Saturday and they brought their 3 month old Australian Shepherd, Ozzie.  Oh my goodness, it was like a tornado hit!  Here is a fuzzy photo of the 3 of them playing like whirling dervishes.  :-)

We found this movie on Netflix and watched it on Saturday evening.  Oh my goodness.. this was a great movie!  I highly recommend it.  Have you seen it?

We've had some snow last night and this morning and the temperature is predicted to drop this afternoon.  So.. I'm having a debate with myself whether I should make the 20 minute drive through the countryside to swim when I might die coming home?  :-)  We'll see which side of myself wins.

What are you up to today?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. The blanket is just beautiful - your stitches are so even and perfect. I'm thinking of taking a few crochet lessons this spring. I can do some basic stitches, but I don't even know what they're called so I could never follow a pattern. I think if I do learn, I might try Lucy's zigzag blanket. Today I went to visit my best friend who is an ex-hairdresser for an expert color and cut. It felt wonderful! Hope you enjoyed yourself, whether you went swimming or not.

Today a bit cooler thank goodness xoxo

  4. It's lovely seeing the progression of your beautiful blanket, Teresa! Little Mocha is doing well with his older doggy relatives. What a sweet photo of him in your husbands lap. We had beautiful weather here today so after a long walk we tackled the mulch beds and removed the leaves. It's never ending around here, though looking at the trees they are now bare. Stay safe in the bad weather. ♥

  7. I think you should listen to the side of yourself that says stay home and crochet. But then, that’s just me. Teresa I’m absolutely loving your blanket. It is so pretty. So, so, so pretty! I can’t say it enough. Your little Mocha is a doll. It looks like all three dogs get along great. Our temperatures have plummeted overnight too and are supposed to stay really cold all week. I think I’ll be hibernating as much as possible.

I have taken on a new charity project. I think I will be letting some things go and focusing on this one. I know you will approve because it’s the Spokane Veterans Home. I have recently found out that they have some great needs including crocheted blankets, hats and scarves, etc. A few years ago when I approached and asked them if they needed anything, there was already a lady who coordinated donations through her church. Apparently she passed away two years ago and now they don’t get very many donations at all. I also found out that the school I have been donating mittens to is getting donations from all over the place since it is such a low income school. Maybe it’s wrong of me, but I think I’m going to focus my efforts on the Veterans Home and the Babies of Homelessness in Seattle. Dennis can’t believe that I’m taking this on. No one that I know of in our church and it’s her crochets so I’ll be doing most of it myself unless I can round up some support.

It is part of a nationwide group, but I will be the coordinator for the Spokane and Washington area. So, if you know anybody that wants to make hats, scarves or afghans for any veterans send them my way! :-)

    Stay warm my friend.
    Blessings, Betsy

    1. Hi Betsy, I listened to my heart and stayed home. It's getting colder and it's snowing here, plus I'm feeling achy and tired. So, home it is.

I'm proud of you to take on the Veteran's Home crochet donations coordination!! I will make some things myself and will promote your project when I can. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. Yet again your new blanket is a joy to behold! And I loved the photo of the dogs in action :) I'm glad you are warm and cozy at home. I tried to take photos with my phone of the big fluffy flakes swirling around outside. They are not sticking so far, but so pretty to watch. I plan to fly to CA Friday, the service is on Saturday, then I have a ticket to fly back to OR on Sunday. I trying to get some extra rest this week and not keep up with my normal routine. I actually crocheted a bit! Love to you and yours xx

  10. It would be lovely to think that you stayed snuggled indoors instead of being out driving in the snow.

Oooh I just want to hug Mocha and kiss her gorgeous little face.
