You are probably not surprised that I felt it necessary to replace my chewed up sewing scissors. They arrived on Saturday and I enjoyed using them all weekend as I hooked away on the border of my Sweet Pea blanket. I chose a different design on the scissors for variety and this pair has swans on the handle.
Such a pretty box.
Such a nice presentation in the box.. :-)
It takes 12 people to make one pair of scissors.
See the swans?
We've had snow predicted all weekend and there has been a lot of accumulation in different parts of the state, but we only got the lightest of dustings a few time. Never mind, we hunkered down all weekend by our fire and I got a lot of work done on the border of my blanket.
The first snip with my new sewing tool.
I'm on the last side of my 3rd color.. there are 7 colors.
I'm in love with the lime green of these little mums.. I am besotted with this color.
How was your weekend? What was your highlight? Did you see the Academy Award show? My favorite part was the acceptance speech by Olivia Colman, an English woman who obviously had not expected to win for Best Actress in a Leading Role for "The Favourite".. it was so charming and spontaneous.. we LOL'ed several times. Have a great week!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
The border is beautiful Teresa. I watched the show up until Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper sang, that was so powerful! I went to bed early because I thought I was working today. I planted pants this weekend and weeded, not my favorite things to do but I sure like it when those flowers bloom. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks so pretty and those scissors, they are exquisite! So glad that Olivia Coleman got the award for best actress...she's one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you replaced your scissors. They are just beautiful! The high winds across New York have been wild today. Scary! We're seeing on TV that some neighborhoods have no electricity due to the winds bringing down power lines and wires. Such a cold night to have no power. I think it's supposed to be around 15 degrees tonight. I'm thankful we had a full house generator installed a few years ago for times like this. (Of course we haven't lost power for any length of time since we've had it, but that's okay!)
ReplyDeleteYour blanket and scissors are lovely. My blanket is now on my bed. I’m going to do the big reveal very soon. B x
ReplyDeleteYour new scissors are exquisite! So beautiful and special. Your blanket border is coming along so fast. The color combination/design you choose is so pretty. Hope you stay warm and safe in this cold weather. ❄️✂️❣️
ReplyDeleteLove your new scissors, Teresa! I'm going to look them up as I need a pair for embroidery work. Your border is lovely and I'm sure you are enjoying the process. I did a little outdoor cleanup of some perennial beds yesterday afternoon as it was so beautiful. Today has been windy--up to 50 miles per hour wind gusts!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were able to replace your scissors with ones equally as beautiful. I really do love the border pattern for the blanket and am looking forward to seeing yours finished. xx Susan
ReplyDeleteYour new snips and their presentation wrapping are lovely! You are making beautiful progress on the blanket and I really like your flower color as well. Tim came over for a visit Sunday afternoon, and after we had dinner we played some rounds of Bannanagrams, then after he left I watched a Hallmark movie so did not watch the awards. We had a steady snow shower this evening and now have a thin white covering of snow on the driveway and roof. I appreciate being cozy inside and am bracing myself for the East winds they are forecasting for tomorrow. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely scissors Teresa.....watched some of the Oscars and cried when saw lady gaga and bradley cooper sing๐ข๐ข silly me lol Temps in the mega high 30s here for the week.... Lovely blanket again
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is beautiful. Your new scissors are stunning along with the presentation box. We didn't watch the awards but her speech was all over the news she was so overwhelmed. Another quiet weekend with some wonderful walks.
ReplyDeleteYour scissors are so pretty and your blanket is looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteOlivia Coleman is one of my favourite actresses. Here in Britain we are so happy that she won an Oscar. Her speech was lovely, so spontaneous!
Beautiful new scissors Teresa - so glad you replaced the ones that were chewed! And that blanket just screams SPRING. Gorgeous! We did not watch the Oscars, but I loved the Favourite - so glad Olivia Colman won. The weekend was good - busy, but good. And finally it seems like out winds have abated.
ReplyDeleteHighlight of the weekend.......I made silly videos for my pal who is at 40 Having her first baby. I used a doll and taught her how to bathe a newborn. IT was fun. Knitting was awesome. My cold meant I was inside but I didn't mind it really. Your scissors are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI was glad to see Olivia Colman win! We are out of school for the next few days. Our little community is over run with the flu.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful new scissors. You’re right, I’m not surprised you replaced them knowing how much you loved them. What a beautiful way they package them. Your blanket is turning out beautifully. I love those colors. We have bright blue sunshine today but tomorrow snow is expected again.
We didn’t watch any award shows. Since we don’t watch many movies or hardly any TV it doesn’t mean much to us anyway. Have a lovely day my friend.
Blessings, Betsy
Keep those new scissors safe, at $100 a pop it can sure add up!
ReplyDeleteMissed the Oscars on purpose. Not a fan of self-adulation.
Keep cozy and enjoy the snow!
Hi Teresa. Your new scissors are lovely,I have scissor envy :-) The blanket is looking gorgeous as well. I also like those mums and that colour! I was so pleased Olivia Coleman won. She seems a lovely lady and I always enjoy her performances.
ReplyDeleteI went to visit my mum at the weekend. The first time in the home she is now in. It is lovely there and I hope she gets to stay there. The weather has been exceptional here for Feb. On Sunday morning DH and I spent a few hours in Lyme Regis - love the sea and it didn't disappoint. Sadly mum not up to going out with us. She is so much better than she was though. Hugs Anne x
