I am happy to announce that I put the last stitch in the border of my crochet blanket just this morning.. yay! To re-cap, the design is by Lucy from the Attic24 blog - she hosted this CAL (Crochet-a-long) and there were people all around the globe participating. There are even Facebook groups who have followed along on this and it's been an amazing experience. So, here are a few photos of the finished blanket. I did a 6 row border, I left off the last color, a purple, as I liked having a bright fuchsia as the last row.
I even enjoyed the border crochet although it took a long time to get around the whole blanket.
A photo op on the bed in our master bedroom.
It really is a sense of accomplishment to finish a blanket.
I used 14 of the 15 colors Lucy chose - I left out a wine burgundy color that I thought was too dark.
A close-up of the border, a sweet design with little points.
It's a wrap!!
OK, I have to jet.. lunch with my sister so I can give her the newsletters I just had printed, I'm the editor of the Friends of Multnomah Falls "Focus on the Falls". Denise does the mail-out for the group. Have a super day!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Teresa, it is absolutely gorgeous! It looks so wonderful on your bed and your stitches are so perfect. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.
ReplyDeleteI hope your lunch was a wonderful one. We have a beautiful sunshiny day here today, but it is very bitterly cold. It was -7F this morning, but that’s still not as cold as it was in Helena. -36F in a friends car this morning on her way to work. Crazy! I’m ready for spring.
Blessings, Betsy
Betsy, you were able to leave a comment.. wahoo! Stay warm.
DeleteWell done Teresa, your blanket looks lovely and fits in perfectly with your bedroom. I wonder how you’ll use all the extra wool? B x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am going to make some pillow covers with it and maybe a scarf. :-)
DeleteThat is so beautiful! I admire your talent. I need to learn to crochet.
ReplyDeleteYou can learn easily on YouTube.. just get a G hook and some yarn and soon you'll be making all kinds of things. :-)
DeleteHow beautiful! The border is lovely and the colors you used frame the blanket perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing your hard work with us!
ReplyDeleteThank you for following along. :-)
DeleteIt's gorgeous! Those colours are really beautiful together and I bet you have some wonderful moments snuggling under it. xx Susan
ReplyDeleteIt has warmed me for weeks during a very snowy cold time. :-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful job you've done on that blanket! Are you sad at all to have finished it? I find I knit mostly for the process of the knitting itself and always have mixed feelings when I finish something.
ReplyDeleteThank you.. no, I'm not sad to be done as now I can start a new project! :-)
DeleteCongratulations on a beautiful job well done! It's a lovely labor of love I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha Ellen.. it definitely was a labor of love.. I'm glad to have it "born". :-)
DeleteWow wow and wow ... what a stunner !! Beautifully crocheted too by the way :) It looks amazing on your bed. May I ask how many balls of each colour you needed? Can you tell I’m motivated?
ReplyDeleteDorothy, I used 15 skeins of Stylecraft - you could order the "Sweet Pea Pack" from Wool Warehouse, I'm sure they'll ship to Australia.. you'd love doing this! :-)
DeleteYour blanket is a triumph and such a pleasure to view! Thanks so much for sharing the process of making it and the grand finale of its completion with us! It truly looks as if it were meant to be on your beautiful bed , like gracing a grand bed in a British castle! XXXXXXX
ReplyDeleteOh.. I like the castle idea! LOL! I look forward to seeing you and showing this blanket to you in "real life". :-)
DeleteIt looks amazing, well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
DeleteBeautiful, the colours match perfectly to your bedding. Love the border. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to have a fellow blanket maker appreciate my blankie. :-)
DeleteBeautiful photos as always, I just love how much you love your blanket, I feel the exact same over mine, they truly make my heart swell with happiness!! I really miss my stripes, I miss the relaxation of those easy rows......I'm about to start sampling for my next design so I'm excited though....you can never have too many blankets, right?!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteLucy.. how sweet of you to pop over and see my finished blanket! I want to thank YOU for sharing your design and writing such a perfect pattern. You're amazing and I just love you. And you're right.. I look forward to making your next blanket, too. ((hugs))
DeleteYour blanket is stunning Teresa!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christina!
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful finish Teresa!! Congratulations. It is so lovely. It seemed to go fast to me...but then I was not the person crocheting this piece - lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Vera... you're right.. when you're doing a CAL you go pretty fast to keep up with the others. :-)
DeleteOh this is so gorgeous! I love the colours and your crochet is so beautifully neat. (Thank you so much for your kind words on my post....and yes you can hand sew the bunnies X)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what you will crochet next? It's always a bit strange when you complete a big project isn't it? Have a lovely week XXX
Helen.. to hear this from such a wonderful craftswoman as you is very sweet. I love the crochet blankets you make, the colors are so precious. I am going to get one of your bunny patterns and make one! :-)
DeleteYour blanket is lovely. So satifying when you finish! I have just finished mine too, although it looks totally different to yours as I didn't buy the pack. I already had a few of the colours and simply bought some extras. I really like the pattern and will use it for some other things, like cushions.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see how your blanket turned out, Caz. I will make some pillows with my leftovers, too. :-)
DeleteWhat a beauty! I've enjoyed following along as you worked on this blanket. It's so cheerful and great for gray days and you did a very nice job with it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, it really has brightened my Winter. :-)
DeleteThat's amazing, isn't it? I'm sure the reason I joined this CAL is because the colors "spoke" to me.
ReplyDeleteTeresa, I"m clapping for you. What a fabulous cheerful keep it forever blanket!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely keeping this forever.. and hopefully my daughter and granddaughters will want it when I am gone. :-)
DeleteBeautiful. I did the color change one and I decided I liked the two rows of green around the edge. Although I loved all her colors, I wanted the green edging only. lol And she is so sweet about 'do your own thing with my pattern'.
ReplyDeleteShe is very sweet about if people want to go "rogue".. lol.
DeleteStunning! Love your border, and as I've said before, I just love the colors! Well done, Teresa!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debi. I'm just glad I was able to somewhat keep up with the CAL. :-)
DeleteI can imagine the border took time. It's a mighty big and gorgeous blanket. Congrats on finishing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tammy. It was for sure a big project and I put the last stitches in today, weaving in the border ends. Whew! :-)
