I was interviewed for a television program yesterday here at Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint. Our favorite news anchor, Jennifer Hoff on KOIN channel 6 does a weekly program called "Women Crush Wednesday" which highlights amazing women and their accomplishments. (Her words, lol) It will also be used in a one time half-hour special about women accomplishments. She googled and found the website I created for Portland Women's Forum and emailed me from my link there to set up the interview. So, Bev, the Vice President of the group and I, met the film crew yesterday at noon.
It was COLD there! We sat on the stone wall with the Columbia River Gorge as our backdrop for the interview, this is Bev, Jennifer and I afterwards. My hat threatened to take flight many times during the interview. The reason Bev and I are wearing the period hats is to harken back to the 1950s when original PWF member Gertrude Jensen rallied the group to raise money to buy the viewpoint and save it from being lost to development and make sure all citizens could enjoy this view in perpetuity. Gertrude was famous for her hats.
Can you imagine this viewpoint owned by one family and only they could enjoy this view?
Jennifer took her own photos with her smartphone. :-)
After the interview I drove on to volunteer at Multnomah Falls with my sister Denise. We met some interesting people! One tall man with a booming voice who was from Transylvania but lives in Oregon now. Another man who works in the frozen tundra of Alaska in the oil business. He showed us photos of where he works with nothing but flat snow for miles with bright sunrises. It was below freezing so there was a lot of ice at the falls and it even began to snow before we left for home.
So, it was a busy day. We have our two youngest grandsons for a few days which is fun. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Any exciting plans? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
How exciting to be interviewed for a programme, and what an amazing spot. On my new laptop I am shown a new and very beautiful view of somewhere every time I turn it on. The other day a picture of Multnomah Falls came up and I was so pleased I recognised it, and all because of your lovely pictures, and also another one of the Columbia River Gorge. You are broadening my horizons! Hope you have a lovely weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful country and no no one family should own such beauty.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful that view is, Teresa. That's wonderful that Gertrude Jensen helped to save it for posterity! Reminds me of Beatrix Potter saving so much of the beauty in England. How nice to be featured with your friend on the news. You both look great in the hats. Some women can wear hats and some can't. I'm in the later group. ♥
ReplyDeleteWell done you for the work you are doing to be recognised. That view truly is spectacular. Enjoy your weekend! xx Susan
