🌞 Happy April and Sunny Days 🌞

🌞  We had a glorious, warm, sunny weekend.  How was yours?  Today Dayle and I celebrate our anniversary.. 49 years!  Next year will be a milestone celebration.  :-)  I enjoyed the tidied up deck with a new issue of Victoria magazine and listened to the sound of the waterfall in the pond and the birds singing.

The sky was blue, the air warm and the reflected sunlight off the pond danced on the ceiling of the gazebo.  Ahhhh..

The koi are out of winter hiding and are eating their food we toss in for them.  The big flat rock in the center of the pond is there as a hiding place for the fish when raccoons and blue herons visit to pond looking for an easy meal.  Don't ask me how I know this.

Our older koi is getting nicely big.. two other koi were a gift to Dayle and I from Kristi.. and we have one old goldfish which has turned white.  I plan to get a few more little koi to add to our "school" of fish.

I love the coloring on this big guy.

I have 4 different varieties of fancy daffodils planted at the base of my dark purple lilac by the walkway to the back deck.  This one has such a pretty orange cup and white petals.  It's name is Fortissimo.

And look at these two frilly cultivars!

This one is very unique as it's almost like one daffodil on top of the other with the cup two different colors!  It's called a double daffodil.

And this one with a pretty cup of salmon, white and yellow.  "Pink Pride".

I got some big ones that we planted in a big pot which are starting to open.  I think it's name is "Orange Progress".

I love the center of a daffodil.

I laid my new Sunday Shawl on top of my old one to see how much further I needed to go on the body.. several more inches before I start on the lacy edging.

The pink is turning purple-y with new threads of blue mixed in.. :-)

Longer days and fair weather have made the chickens happy - they are laying well.

We have less vehicles in the farm yard since our son moved to his own home.. taking 3 Mustangs - a 1966, 1967 and 2018, 1 VW bus, 1 VW Jetta, 1 Toyota Landcruiser and a trailer.  :-)  Oh.. plus they have our Dodge Ram pickup at their house for a while.  Dayle moved my big pot of daffodils out by the walkway for me.  :-)

An update on my white Lilac progress.. :-)

Dayle holding his beloved Mocha baby while relaxing between yard chores.

A small group of Goldfinches have returned.  Pardon the pixilated iPhone zoom.. lol.

Our Buddy dog used to bark at the fish.. Mocha so far is accepting them okay but is curious.  She seems to like the taste of the pond water.. :-P

I'm so happy that the weather is nice again - but rain is forecast.

I made a batch of Apple Oat Cinnamon muffins yesterday and baked them in the muffin pan I made in pottery class years ago.

I have to admit that I used a mix from King Arthur's Flour company.  Next time I'll make them from scratch.

On Facebook they show photos from past years on this day when you log in.. here is one from Easter in the past.. I thought it was cute and wanted to share it with you.  This is our 4 grandsons.  :-)

Last but not least.. I thought I'd share our wedding photo from 1970.  Vintage, right?  We met in high school when I was 14!  I was a freshman and he was a junior.  We dated all through my high school years, then he joined the Army and flew a helicopter in Vietnam.. got shot  .. and we married after he'd recovered.  56 years in 2 sentences.  :-O

We have a man here washing up our trailer for us as we have a trip to the beach coming up.  We also have our handyman Richard here putting on some new steps on our back deck, replacing some house trim that had rotted at the bottom and he's also going to paint the end of the barn.  THEN we hope he will be putting in a fence for us that encloses the back deck so we can let the dogs out and not worry about them running into the road.  So, it's busy here today.  What are you up to?
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I love seeing all your flowers and the koi - they are so pretty I think. Funny that Mocha likes the pond water. I bet our cat Tyg would too - lol. It is chilly here today, so not much going on outside. Maybe later in the week as it warms up. You've gotten a lot done on your shawl - very pretty colors. Have a great week Teresa!

  3. Spring seems to have sprung on the Kasner farm! Such beautiful daffodils. I haven’t seen any tulips or daffodils over here yet, but I did see crocus on my walk last week so I know spring is trying. We had a beautifully sunny day Saturday, it rained all day yesterday and it’s a gorgeous day today. But, rain is predicted the rest of the week so I have been outside enjoying today. I moved all of my statues out of the shed into the yard. Dennis put the patio furniture back on the deck yesterday, and although it’s a little bit chilly to sit out there today, I’m looking forward to it soon. Maybe while my sister is here next week it will be warm enough.
Your shawl is looking gorgeous. I love the colors. I went to Hobby lobby this morning and bought a skein of yarn to work on a scarf for Alex‘s girlfriend. How can it be with all of the yarn that I have in this house I didn’t have the right color? :-) I hope you have a wonderful week Teresa. Enjoy the sunshine while you can.

    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. Happy Anniversary Teresa, to you and Dayle! I love the wedding photo too - how sweet. Thank you for sharing! I never realized there were so many varieties of daffodils. Mine have just gotten started growing and are the usual sunny yellow variety. Your koi are beautiful. It's so relaxing to watch them, I'm sure. I hope Mocha doesn't get too curious!

  6. Happy 49th Anniversary, Teresa and Dayle! Thanks for sharing the bouquet of beautiful flower photos...pretty farm, and family ones, too. I have been doing chores today and on the way putting the trash cans back I found a plant that looked like Wild lavender Violets. I picked a little pretty posy of them but they did not have a scent. 🤗💞🤗

Love the 'vintage' photo's. Where has the time gone?
We'll be celebrating 50 yrs of marriage this December 6th. It seems like only yesterday I was 19 walking down the aisle after having only met him a week before. Crazy, I know, but it was the very best thing I have ever done in my entire life. Love that man!

  17. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! I love that photo of you and Dayle on your wedding day <3 I am just watching an episode of a TV show called Grimm on Netflix and they just had a chase scene at your beautiful Multnomah Falls in Oregon. I instantly recognized it from the photos you've posted in the past and thought of you straight away. I was actually looking to see if you were there!
It's so lovely to see your daffodils flowering while I've got mine sitting in the fridge waiting to be planted in the next couple of weeks!

  19. Happy Anniversary Teresa! My parents will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Thanks so much for sharing all those pictures. You've made me envious of all the spring flowers and, because it's still too cold here for mine to emerge, I'm going to have to make a trip to the store and buy some flowers for the house:)
