Dune Dog, Spaghetti and GOT Finale

Hello my friends.  Did you have a good weekend?  I worked on my Dune blanket.  Someone asked about the pattern in a comment in my last post - the design is by Lucy at Attic24 blog.  Click on her name to find out all about it.  This photo of Mocha on my lap with the blanket across her reminds me of similar photos I took of our dear Buddy in the same spot.

We took care of our patient, Dayle over the weekend.  I prepared baby food oatmeal for him for breakfast with some brown sugar and butter in it.  For dinner he gets mashed potatoes with beef or turkey gravy and some pureed vegetables.  I make him coffee, keep his ice water filled and bring him jello, etc.

Kristi brought me some hamburger and Italian sausage and I taught Michael (our 19 yr old grandson who lives with us) how to make it.  We worked together to produce a meal for us non-surgical recovery patients.  Next I will show him how to make our special macaroni and cheese from scratch.

Last night was the Game of Thrones final episode.  SO - SPOILER ALERT - If you haven't seen the end, you might not want to read further.  I don't go into a lot of detail but I am going to talk about it some.

The end did not play out like I hoped.  I am disappointed.  Jon Snow was my very favorite character.  I had envisioned that he and Dani would live happily ever after.  Umm nope.  I thought he'd be a wonderful ruler with heart.  Dang dang dang.

The End.  :-(

I saw this on Facebook and got a kick out of it.  :-)

THE SURGEON JUST CALLED:  The mass was cancerous but they took some of the muscle tissue that the tumor had grown into and the cancer had not spread further and she feels they got it all.  He needs to heal and in a few months they will schedule a 2nd surgery to remove the rest of the thyroid and lymph nodes.

Thank you for all the supportive comments you left on my last 2 posts.  It means so much to us, Dayle reads them too and it's helped him cope.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. The cool cloudy weather has made cooking a cosy activity, and your comfort food cuisine sounds yummy! I discovered that if I fix a serving of oatmeal and blend it with a serving of my homemade chicken vegetable soup it becomes "cream of chicken" soup. I use almond milk instead of cream, but the taste and consistency is great. I'm glad Mocha is such a good stitching companion and I really admire the pattern and color sequence of your current blanket. I am knitting a purple dishcloth. Yesterday I watched the happy ending movie Away & Back about the swans that visited a Washington state farm...beautiful! Sending more hugs and still praying for hope and healing for you and yours.

  2. As I just said by text, I'm glad they got it all. You are in our prayers each and every day. Those aren't mere words. You are both dear to both of us and we ARE praying.
I love your blanket and it looks as though little Mocha does too. I enjoyed meeting her on our trip. I would love a lap dog again.
I've never watched GOT but I do know how it is when a favorite show ends in a way I didn't like. Bummer.
I also love that you're teaching your grandson family favorites. I loved my Grandma dearly, she's the one who taught me to crochet, but she held onto recipes for dear life and would not share with anyone. When she passed, all of the family favorites died with her. We have all tried to recreate several of the recipes with no luck. I find that really sad.
Thinkiing of you both. Love you lots my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. Good news to hear about the surgeon being able to remove a good margin and contain the cancer. You and I have been very fortunate to have had skilled surgeons that know what they're doing. All you need to do now is take it easy. You have a great support group around you that will take care of you. Hang in there, things will get better and it will all sort itself out. Take it from one that's been where you are now.

  8. I'm glad that Dayle's news is positive though sad to see he needs further surgery. Thinking of you both.
It's good to teach the next generation family favourites. I was making up a book but need to add a few more recipes to it. Cx

  10. Your blanket looks gorgeous Teresa. I must admit the end of GOT was unexpected. We watched all 8 series in 4 weeks and managed to catch up in time to watch the last show. It's been brilliant. I'm so sorry to hear of Dayle's biopsy results but glad they managed to get most of the tissue out. Sending him and you my love and supportive best wishes. Hang in there. Hugs xxx

  13. I'm sorry to hear the results of the biopsy showed cancer, but glad to hear it looks like they got it all. I was treated for stage 4 thyroid cancer ten years ago and living without a thyroid just takes a little fine tuning. With the proper dose of medication, Dayle will probably soon realize he feels better than he has for quite a while. Best wishes to you both.

  15. Teresa did they say what kind of cancer it was? I had papillary thyroid cancer 29 yrs ago at the age of 33 and my 68 year old brother had it last year. Will pray it's papillary since it's the easiest one to treat. Has he been scheduled for a radioactive iodine treatment yet? Hugs to ((((((((((Dayle))))))))))

  16. It is good for you to have got the results, at least now you know what you’re dealing with, and it does sound positive from the surgeon. I hope Dayle is beginning to feel a bit better from the surgery, it’s never nice recovering from surgery but it does sound like he is being well looked after.
I love that your grandson wants to learn how to cook, it’s a useful skill that everyone should have. And the final GOT was alright, I guess it answered a few questions and brought it all together well. Although the sweet natured Jon Snow looked miserable for most of the episode, I think where he ended up will suit him well. He didn’t want to lead and will have a certain amount of freedom that he wouldn’t have otherwise have had. Well that’s how I’ve chosen to see it. X
