๐ŸŒน A Rose by Any Other Name..

..would smell as sweet. ๐ŸŒน William Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet".  Dayle picked me a bouquet of roses and I'm enjoying them on the table next to my chair.  The rose plate is one I found in my mother's things that were stored in our barn.  Now I can have roses near me all year.  :-)  Plus a reminder of my mother, too.

The creamy white rose with dark pink tips where the sun hits the unfurling flower is named "Double Delight".  Those of you who've been reading my blog for a while probably have heard me tell this story, but allow me to tell it again for new readers.  My sister Denise's MIL did rose testing for Jackson & Perkins rose dealers.  She tested this and got to name it.  she named it Double Delight because not only is it beautiful but it smells divine.  I've read that if you can only have one rose in your garden, this should be the one.  I agree.

This is the window next to my easy chair, the sunny front yard is so pleasant.

Sister Denise knows of my love of bunting and texted this design for me to see.

I went on Amazon and found some bandanas, the first ones I was going to buy were made in China and they said they might fray.. so I decided to look for ones made in the USA and found these, so I got two packages of them.  My sister offered to sew up the bunting for me!!  She wants to try to get them made before the 4th of July!!  :-) ๐ŸŒน

I'm Facebook friends with the lady across the road from us who has a lavender field.  Notice anything familiar in her photo?

Dayle is doing much better now.  But to be honest he's dreading the next surgery.  They have not set a date for it yet.  They have to do an ultrasound scan on the lymph nodes and the leftover half of his thyroid to see how to proceed in a few weeks.

I am off to swim in a half hour.  I hope your week is going well.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. I love that bunting! I may even give it a try myself. I'm sure it's difficult for Dayle to even think about another operation when he's just getting over the first. Hopefully it won't be as invasive and he won't be as uncomfortable afterwards. xxx

  5. This morning on the way out of our baby blanket making group I stopped to smell the gorgeous pink rose blooms and lavender rose blooms on four bushes. Sadly, NO SCENT!! I am glad you can enjoy the fragrance of the beautiful Double Delights...I am using my imagination :) The Bandana Bunting will be a festive addition to summer celebrations. You did such a good job designing the barn, Dayle. It is fun to see it from across the street. Good for you swimming on this cool cloudy day, Teresa. Waiting for procedures and progress in the healing process is challenging and I am thanking the Lord that Dayle is at least feeling better from the initial procedure. xxxxxx

  6. What a neat story about Double Delight rose. I wish I had more sun to plant this beauty. Your bunting is going to be lovely. How clever to use bandanas. So glad Dayle is better. Who looks forward to surgery?, bless is heart. Love seeing your barn from your neighbor's--very pretty view.

  11. Your roses are beautiful and I always enjoy reading the story behind them. That bunting is beautiful and how kind it is of your sister to volunteer to make it for you. I'm half tempted to make one for the camper.
I recognize that beautiful barn! It's yours! That coat of red paint is beautiful.
Dennis and I are both thinking of Dayle and praying for him daily. I can imagine how nerve wracking it must be to know you need another surgery when you haven't even recovered from the first one.
    Take care...both of you.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  16. The rose and plate are so pretty, love the story about the rose too.

I did think that about Dayle too. Having had surgery on my thumb (4 yrs ago approx) that had pre cancerous cells, the result was that I needed a further incision.
I won't pretend that it was on the same scale of events as Dayle, but nevertheless the dread was paralysing. To know that you have no choice but to go through it all again and possibly need plastic surgery afterwards. I totally understand and will pray for courage for him to go through it again, for strength to carry him towards the event of surgery itself and favour that all will be well both during surgery and in good results. Also that recovery will be swift and that he'll be totally calm and at peace about the whole situation.
Take care both of you, Cathy x
