What a fun day we had yesterday. Each 4th of July our little community puts on a pretty wonderful parade. They also have a fun festival on the school grounds and a fireworks display as soon as it's dark enough to start. We only have to drive a quarter of a mile to the top of our country road where we put our folding chairs and enjoy the parade. First up is the local volunteer Fire Department and their new firetruck.
The car clubs are at the beginning.. imagine our surprise to see my sister and BIL in their blue Mustang going by. They hadn't told us they were coming so I wasn't ready to take a photo so I quickly snapped this shot.
This was our view between floats.. cows in a pasture. LOL!
Lots of vintage cars are in the parade.. we know this lady and it's her daily driver. It's fun to see on the road.
The following photos don't need explanation.. just horses, tractors, kids, home-made floats... enjoy.
We were pleased to see that our newish neighbors were next to us and we visited with them and met their adorable 3 little towheaded children. That was neat.
This cute little pony went by.
Our little neighbor girl was very proud of how much candy she caught from the passing floats and trucks.
I was happy to see a float for the 4-H clubs of Corbett. I was the Dairy Goat 4-H leader for 5 years. All 3 of my children showed their registered Nubian dairy goats at the county fairs.
Our fire department trucks start the parade and also bring up the rear. When you see them you know the parade is over.
These are the guys that will save our house if we have a fire so we shouted our thanks to them.
In 5 minutes we were home and relaxing on the deck while Dayle BBQ'ed some T-Bone steaks on the pellet grill. My sister Denise and her son Kevin joined us for the parade and BBQ afterwards and then Kristi and our 2 grandsons joined us when they brought us a ton of wood pellets for our pellet stove in the family room. The 3 of them also unloaded them into the barn. Then we all enjoyed grilled steak, Denise made a potato salad and we had baked beans. Twas good! This is not a glossy magazine/styled photo, but I should have removed the rolls of paper towels! LOL!
Today.. we're resting up. It's been a busy schedule for us for several weeks. Time to take off the red, white and blue tablecloth and put on a summery one. I'm going to do some tidying in the house and on the deck. I hope you're enjoying your July!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Looks like you all had a wonderful day and the weather looked gorgeous too. I love watching the parades and seeing the old cars and especially the old tractors go by. xx Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa--I love seeing the parade of all the vintage cars. Such a wonderful celebration of Independence Day. Everyone of your photos speaks of hometown America. I love it! And your menu sounds great and similar to our's. Missed you during our break.
ReplyDeleteHey, paper towels are a sure part of a 4th of July picnic table! What a GREAT parade! Your sister/BIL's Mustang is almost like my son's! Same color and stripes, just oh-so-slightly different! (I have a photo of it in my 4th of July post.) Blessings to you and your family, Teresa! ♥
ReplyDeleteFabulous post Teresa always enjoy your 4th July celebrations ❤❤ Family snaps are the best when relaxed 😂😂🙋♀️🙋♀️❤❤
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful celebration, the parade was a delight. Always good to get the family together and make some wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your 4th with us! I enjoyed the parade and the story about it and your celebration. I spent a few hours along the Clackamas river with Tim and friends and was so thrilled with the perfect weather, site and nice folks around me. Early on Friday I picked up my sister, Margaret, at the airport. I am having a great time visiting with her and I am hoping for more sunshine during the coming week to spend more time out and about doing some sightseeing. Happy resting, Teresa and Dayle! ((Hugs)) Gracie :-)
ReplyDeleteAs always I enjoyed your description/photos of your July 4th celebrations, complete with paper towel table decor! Just like I would have! Hugs Anne X

OH I forgot to say that tree picture is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have a new survey up if you want to take it Teresa! and I see the ENT on tuesday to look at my chords
Your parade was a lot bigger than the one we were in in NC. Looks like everyone had a wonderful time. Enjoy our day of rest, you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the parade photos. Not been to a 4th of July parade in a long time. We had a relatively good time at rodeo til I fell on the stairs. Bruised below my knee. Left 45 min later cuz I wasn't feeling great. Ok though. Stopped at 1st aid tent to get it checked out. Watering outdoor plants is needed today. Thought was going to rain but it didn't. Sigh! Happy month of July!🍓
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa! I left a long comment and then the internet at the lake said it was off and my comment was gone so I'll try again. If you get two, you'll know why. I'm sorry I'm a bit late in writing. We had a 50th wedding anniversary party for a friend yesterday and I was there for almost 7 hours yesterday helping in the kitchen. It was great fun with literally hundreds of people coming for the open house. But it did mean that I wasn't online at all yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI loved your parade photos. I look forward to them all year and the wonderful community feeling that comes through them. Everyone looks thrilled and I'm so happy you have new little ones in your neighborhood to enjoy seeing at these events. The happiness of a child is wonderful. I'm glad you had a wonderful day.
Much love and many blessings,
Betsy
