On Friday we headed out for a late afternoon drive to show the girls (my granddaughters) the gorge where their mother (my daughter Amy) grew up. First stop, Portland Women's Forum to show them the Columbia River Gorge.
We drove on to Vista House where Amy told the girls about working there as a teen.. she started as the "coffee girl" and then worked as a cashier in the gift shop. I was the executive director of the Friends of Vista House during that time and was her "boss". :-)
It's unusual to see MF falls lit up by the sun, in the winter time the sun is lower in the sky and falls remain shaded.
Then on to Horsetail Falls
On Saturday we were tidying and cooking for the family reunion barbecue.. I boiled eggs and pasta for macaroni salad and put some beans on the stove to simmer with some ketchup, molasses and frozen orange juice concentrate and sliced up an orange to stir in. I took several candid photos of everyone enjoying the afternoon. My sister Denise and her husband Steve joined us, he's there on the left with Dayle, grandson Hayden and DIL Kristi.
Kristi, son Travis and daughter Amy.
The grandkids chatting, Jenna is coloring in a neat book.
It did this grandma's heart good to see the grandchildren having fun and spending time with their aunties.
Kristi made a delicious fruit salad with lime and honey and Dayle made BBQ pork ribs.. they got a little overdone.. we were so enjoying visiting with everyone that he forgot to check on them! :-)
Is there anything more rewarding than perfect weather and dining alfresco with the family?
I love the cute look on my older sister Roberta's face.. :-)
My sweet granddaughter Jenna *LOVES* dogs and Mocha loves her.
Paige also loves little M.
Amy stayed up late making 2 pumpkin pies for her dad as they are his favorite. It was funny as she had trouble finding everything to make it and it involved one trip to the store for evaporated milk.. but here they are! She got the pie making gene from my mom.. it skipped a generation as I didn't get it. LOL!!
It's a bit of a zoo here right now.. but a fun zoo. I hope you have a super week!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

ReplyDeleteFamily time is the best, especially with family you don't get to spend time with that often. How wonderful it is to see your granddaughters spending time with their cousins but also seeing places where their mamma grew up. Enjoy this precious time. xx Susan

ReplyDeleteHi Teresa! I commented yesterday but I don't know what happened to it. It looks like you're all having such a fun time together...even the aunts and uncles. I'm sure Mocha is loving every snuggle too. I'm sure Amy is enjoying retracing her childhood and teen footsteps. I'm so glad you're enjoying each minute you have together.

Betsy
