Leaf Peeper

We are having an exceptional year for colorful trees as the leaves change.  I'm trying to capture as many as possible before the winds blow the leaves all off and the trees shiver in embarrassed nakedness.  This amazing parade of trees are on the Mt. Hood Community College property.  I'm not even sure what genus they are but boy do they put on a show each Autumn.  I'm thinking they are Sweet Gum trees.

When I was driving to the pool on Monday I scoped out which trees to photograph on my way home.  This beauty is actually next to my pool parking lot.

This maple tree is in the parking lot.. I'm amazed at the brilliance of the orange leaves.

This one is in someone's yard on the road home.. I had to pull into the street and turn around and come back.. I'm on the back of the brightest part of the tree and it's backlit, too.

I think these are Ash trees.. they're amazing as the leaves are green, yellow, orange, red and even purple.. on one tree!

The long line of trees from another standpoint.. it's almost a half a mile long.

One of the most brilliant of those trees.  Do you have some pretty trees where you live?

One of my Rose of Sharon blooms.. too soon it will be closed down for winter.

A crystal ball experiment.. :-)

And another.. notice only one car parked by the barn?  When both sons and their families lived here with us we had a total of 13 cars here.  Now.. with just the two of us we have my Ford Flex, Dayle's Ford Explorer, the Dodge 1 ton, 1955 Chevy and a (non running) 1927 Chevy.  How many and what kind of vehicles do YOU have?

We have three sunny days predicted in a row according to our local weather gurus.  I'm going to enjoy them.  What kind of weather are you having?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. My son and I were just talking about the plethora of vehicles that we used to have. We did so much jockeying that we usually left our keys either in the ignition, or on the hood so the others did not have to track us down when we blocked them in.
Those days are gone. Now Mr. K and I are down to two: His Kia Sportage (with two car seats in the back) and my VW Beetle convertible

  2. After seeing your crystal ball yesterday , I showed my husband and he sent for one. It came today ( good old Amazon ). If the weather is fine tomorrow we will go and try it out at our local park. So pretty I just want to touch it. Must get those fingerprints off ! haha.

  3. Our few deciduous trees here - aspen, marshall ash and service berry have all turned color nicely this year. Last night it was spitting snow when I took the dog out for the last time and tonight it is supposed to drop to 15 degrees! We have two Ford trucks, two Ford cars, a Suzuki Sidekick and a 1956 Chevy here. Plus our 16 ft. C-Dory Angler, quite tiny next to your 22 foot C-Dory Cruiser!

  4. Wow! Those trees are stunning. Their colour and those blue skies have certainly brightened my day. We've had torrential rain with some hail here today. Grey, wet and cold. It's going to be a long winter!

  5. Thanks for capturing all the stunning leaf photos! I went out walking around the condo complex the other day scouting for some pretty trees. We only have two big trees that are colorful so far. Sunnyside road in Happy Valley has some long stretches of beautiful trees. :-) ((hugs))

  6. Not sure we are going to have a pretty fall this year. Seems like the trees are losing the leaves before they turn brilliant. The next few weeks should tell the story. Today is cold and rainy (mostly drizzle).

Our cars? 2010 Subaru Forester and 2019 Subaru Outback. The 2010 is mine. The 2019 is Steve's.

  7. Interesting how much temperature and moisture affects the intensity in leaf colors. It was a good year for both in your area. Not so much here in Oregon City - what a different just 30mi can make. BUT, last year it was gorgeous! Very picture worthy for sure!
We have just one car and that's plenty! With the cost of gasoline, insurance, plus tags, etc. It's so nice to have only one, car! (smile)

  8. Your leaf pee ping photos are gorgeous! I just love this time of the year. We have a Chevy Silverado truck, a Chevy Equinox and a Rockwood Mini camper in our driveway.

  9. It's a gorgeous Autumn in your neck of the woods, Teresa! The leaves here are falling from dryness and I'm afraid it will not be a pretty fall for us. We need rain so badly. It's really not good to go into winter with a drought.

  11. Hi Teresa, Our trees were just beginning to change and look beautiful and then the dreaded wet snow hit last night. SO MANY trees are down and destroyed, including our neighbors which fell over our fence. Dennis and I just came inside after chain sawing in the dark tonight. The branches are all piled up on our patio and will have to be cut even smaller to be hauled to the dump on Saturday. What a mess. School was canceled today because even though it was only 3 inches of snow, it was so wet and heavy on the trees full of leaves that many, many power lines snapped. Most of Spokane was out of power for a period of time today although we were lucky and have our lines underground so escaped the outage.
As for the cars, we only have our two. Dennis' F150 truck and my Honda CRV. ANd of course our trailer if that counts.
Have a lovely evening my friend and Dennis says hi to Dayle.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I’m so envious of your beautiful trees. Very few maples or similar over here. They certainly are looking fabulous at the moment. We too have a vintage car. Only thirty five years old but still going strong. A 2CV which we all love. Have a lovely day. B x

  14. The trees are so beautiful. In some southern areas of Australia the trees change in Autumn but not in out parts so I'm enjoying seeing them through your photos. I can see your having fun with your crystal ball! xx Susan

  15. Oh wow Teresa! Your photos are absolutely stunning! The colours are so vibrant. We don't get cold enough autumns in Melbourne to get such colour changes. We have the same trees but they're not as spectacular. And your clever photography skills no doubt make them look even better!

  16. Hot and humid here. Love seeing the Fall trees. We certainly don't get color change like that. It's one of the things I really miss.

  17. The trees are stunning. We only have one car now that we are both retired. An ordinary Honda Civic, which is very reliable. Had two when we both worked , I had a Ford Puma- loved that car. Can't see point now of two. DH likes to walk when possible - I really only drive occasionally. :-) Hugs Anne X
