We had a nice weekend, how was yours? Our grandson Hayden helped grandpa winterize the trailer and blew off the deck and front porch and walkway. Then he blew leaves for grandpa while he mowed the leaves over for mulch. Then he came inside and asked me if I needed any help so I asked him to bring down my Halloween bin and I filled it with all those decorations and he took that to the attic and brought down my Thanksgiving bin.
Then he helped me spread the tablecloth and put out my turkeys and pilgrims. :-) We went out on the deck and he helped me by putting away some things by the back door and straightened up the chairs around the table under the gazebo. What a kid! His brother had to go home a day early due to feeling poorly. How do you like my vintage glass turkey candy dish?
I found a pair of Majolica turkeys years ago and also 2 little glass turkey candle holders.
Kristi found these cute wooden pilgrims for me, the man has a wooden rifle and a turkey in a burlap bag. The woman sits on a wooden bench holding a corn cob next to a basket of pumpkins and apples.
She also surprised me with this pair of pilgrims and the Indian and pilgrim turkey salt and pepper shakers. The turkey on the pumpkin is a Jim Shore design. Thanksgiving will be here in no time on the 28th. We're cooking the dinner which we look forward to all year.
Each day I check to see if all the Pin Oak leaves are red, there is a ways to go yet but with our East Winds they may blow off first. :-)
Dayle spoiled me by making lunch for me yesterday. I must say it was hard to take a bite of this! :-)
And last night Dayle came in from walking the dog and asked to borrow my iPhone to snap the sunset.
I bet this was something to see from Vista House!
We were invited to dinner at Travis and Kristi's house on Saturday when we brought Hayden home. She made delicious pancakes and bacon for us. While we visited I managed to finish weaving in ALL the ends of my Dune blanket and crocheted the 1st of two colors of a simple shell border. It won't be long until it's done and I can start on the one for Paige. This one will be Jenna's who is the oldest. My granddaughters live in Ohio. 2,372.5 miles away. Look who had to jump on my blanket when I was trying to take a photo of it? Don't mind all the dog toys.. :-)
She was sniffing it as Ozzie, our son's Australian Shepherd had been by the blanket.
One row of a 2 row border. I look forward to getting this one completed.
No swimming for me today. I tweaked my back on the trip to Yosemite so I'm on light duty until it improves. Which it should. :-) Did you have fun on the weekend?
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
It was a good weekend here, with a day off from school today, yeah! Hayden sounds like a sweetheart for helping so much.
ReplyDeleteLove your Thanksgiving decorations especially the wooden pilgrims. The blanket looks great, Mocha certainly likes it. Hope your back is better soon. CNx
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving decorations are lovely and the pilgrims are very sweet. Sounds like Hayden did an awesome job helping you out too. We've had lots happening here as my Dad's had some complications from his hip replacement last week. Hopefully he'll be home tomorrow so fingers crossed. xx Susan
ReplyDeleteTeresa, how great to have such a giving and hard working grandson!!!!! Love that boy . I love your glass turkey dish. Dayles taking some awesome sunset photos. Isn't it hard that our families live so geographically far from us? Sometimes I think I should move to texas. Between Oklahoma and Mexico!
ReplyDeleteWe had a pretty low key weekend. Sounds like you had a really good helper!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is looking gorgeous! I always enjoy seeing your seasonal table displays Teresa. I used to do more decorating, but the past few years not so much. I can't even remember when I last cooked a holiday meal! Our son and his fiance always do the holidays at their home.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, Hayden sure helped the two of you a lot this weekend. How wonderful to have such a good and willing helper around the house. Your sunset photo looks much like the ones I took last week at Hobby Lobby. The colors in the sky this fall seem exceptionally brilliant for some reason. All of the Thanksgiving decorations are lovely. I like that you can look at each of your seasonal decorations and remember who or where you received them. The memories are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteTake care Teresa. I hope your back improves quickly my friend. Hi to Dayle from Dennis. :-)
Blessings,
Betsy
What a kind and thoughtful grandson you have. Always enjoy seeing your next decorations appear.
ReplyDeleteWe had a fairly quiet weekend. I was crafting a fair bit and we waited in for some furniture to be collected. Hope your back is soon recovered . Anne X
Darling Thanksgiving pieces, Teresa! How nice your grandson helped you to get it all down and put away Halloween. Dayle's sandwich sure looks yummy. And your blanket is beautiful with your sweet Mocha posing on it. What a beautiful shot of the sunset! Do take care of yourself as your back gets better!
ReplyDeleteYummo to that sandwich. Bravo to wonderful Hayden too. Oh those decorations
ReplyDeleteare fabulous as always and neat newer ones. Back home from cityback to home life lol
I'm sorry your back is tweaked and I hope it heals rapidly! Wonderful progress on Jenna's beautiful blanket. I 'm so glad Hayden was willing and able to help you and Dayle, and I hope that Caleb is feeling better now. Thanks for sharing the wonderful sunset photo Dayle took, along with the the photos you took of Thanksgiving decorations I admire and the lovely view of your tree. My weekend was busy with visits with family and friends...some by phone and some in person, and I am ignoring the latest drift of leaves on the patio. Maybe the East wind that blew them in will blow them out? :-) ((hugs)
ReplyDeleteLovely bright pictures...your crochet blanket is looking beautiful. How wonderful that your grandson is such a help to you! Sorry your back is hurting...hope it heals very soon. Enjoy a wonderful autumn week dear Teresa XXX
ReplyDeleteI wish my grands were closer so they could help me like that! LOL! I love all your Thanksgiving decorations. Yes, Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! I'd better get the menu written and start shopping!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week. Love that blanket and the colors you chose!
