A light dusting of snow began on Saturday night, this is Sunday before noon although Dayle told me it was much whiter when he first walked the dog. But it's still pretty.
Dayle put up the tree on Sunday and hung some wreathes. We used to go get a fresh tree but it would get so dry it made me nervous so now we have a "re-usable" one. :-) I put a few decorations on yesterday and will do a lot more today, plus the boys are coming here on the bus after school and I hope they'll want to help.
I decided we would hang the wreath right over the mirror that I inherited from my friend Sally. I think it looks neat!
I ordered a new cotton tartan plaid tablecloth to use this year. I've always been drawn to the plaid and I'm sure it's due to my Scottish and Irish ancestry. We placed the musical and turning carousel in pride of place and it brings me much joy watching it turn as I can see it from my easy chair in the family room.
I have always designed my own card but this year Dayle bought two boxes of printed cards so I might take a year off of DIY cards. :-)
I was pleased to receive my British Edition of Country Living December Edition.
I flipped through to show you a few of the pretty photos but I am saving it to enjoy after I get some chores done.
I love a home lit from within and all cozy.
I also spent some hooky time over the weekend, I only have one more color - 2 rows - before I begin a repeat. The bottom 4 rows are the beach, 4 rows of ocean, 4 of sunset and 4 of sky blues.
I boxed up the finished blanket to send to my eldest granddaughter in Ohio, Jenna, and she loves it! I figured she might as well enjoy it for the many weeks that it will take me to finish the 2nd one for Paige. :-)
Me and my fur hat.
How did your weekend go? Have a super week ahead!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I love snow when it first falls, but hate it when it goes all slushy! We've had a couple of frosts, but no snow yet. They're saying we're due an Arctic blast this winter in the UK, 40 days of -14C. Brrr! Your carousel looks lovely. I've put up our (fake) tree this evening. Still got more baubles to put on it. More is more when it comes to Christmas trees in my opinion! I think Jenna will get a lot of use out of that blanket. And I love your fur hat! xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like you’re festive already, especially with the snow. We’ve just been out to choose our tree and it should arrive later this week. Loving the colours in your new blanket :) B x
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is so pretty Teresa. We've had some crisp, bright and frosty mornings herei the UK.
ReplyDeleteI hope to start decorations this week. Hugs Anne x
I love your tartan tablecloth and the table dΓ©cor. Your tree is a beauty. We have a "reusable" tree also. It's prelit, and for the past few years I didn't put any decorations on due to the 5 cats. But this year I ordered some small wood slices and decorated them and hung them on the tree. So far the cats haven't touched them, but if they do nothing will break!
ReplyDeleteIt is summer here and snow is falling lol So cold but your post warmed me up ❤
ReplyDeleteYou've made nice progress on your second blanket! Your tartan tablecloth us gorgeous...so festive. Waiting to see if we get done snow tonight...
ReplyDeleteI like your plaid tablecloth and your carousel. We have a "reusable" tree too, it's even pre-lit! We had a real tree for about 35 years, but like you it made me nervous.
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughter looks so cozy with her new beautiful blanket. And your home is looking festive already. We've had light issues, but now have it resolved after 3 days! The snow is beautiful on your lovely home, Teresa.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it a great surprise to wake up to a little snow Sunday morning? I enjoy seeing all you have done transitioning into Christmas celebration. I have brought out my Fisher-Price Nativity set and arranged it in the center of the living room on the coffee table. I have a little foot tall ceramic lite Christmas tree on the round table in front of the picture window. I started organizing myself this past weekend to send some cards this year and I got my first two Christmas cards of the season in the mail today. It is lovely seeing Jenna treasure the beautiful blanket you made for her and to admire the pretty blanket you are making for Paige. May the Lord bless you and yours...including your cute fur cap. ((hugs)), Gracie :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is looking very festive at your house Teresa. We have a reusable tree because I am allergic to the real ones, and frankly I was over the needle mess allover the floor everyday. It isn't the same but it will do. Love your tablecloth and wreathes. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteJenna looks so happy with her blanket! I just know that makes your heart happy Teresa.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I wasn't on the computer yesterday to read blogs. Mandy and Piper left in the morning and Alex and Tara left last night. I was trying to get every bit of time with them I could yesterday. By the time we returned from the airport at 8:30, I was emotionally exhausted with goodbyes.
I do love all of your gorgeous decorations and I hope the boys were able to help decorate a little when they got out of school.
Blessings and love to both of you.
Betsy
Beautiful view of your red barn and the snow! Loved seeing your twinkling tree and other cosy decorations. Your crochet blanket is very beautiful...and obviously treasured by Jenna. Country Living magazine is my favourite...have been a subscriber for many years and always enjoy its pages. Have a wonderful week dear Teresa. XXX
ReplyDeleteWe have "reusable" trees, too. Safer and cleaner, by far!
ReplyDeleteOh I bet your granddaughters treasure those blankets. It is beginning to look like Christmas at your house!
ReplyDeleteI am astonished that penmanship or even printing is not a subject in my grandsons' school. I realize they will not be signing a check but in the future won't there be a need to sign one's name to something? Thanks for keeping the tradition alive. Your granddaughters will cherish their blankets for years to come:) Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWe had cold weather but no snow on Sunday. Glad it's warmed up a bit. I still have plastic sheeting over my potted outdoor plants. Will check out how cold the weather is going to be and may pull it off for awhile. Nice decor in your house. We don't have our tree up yet. AM gonna put a smaller one up for this coming weekend party.
ReplyDeleteSo much to love in this delightful post Theresa. Thank you for sharing. Your blanket is stunning too.

Your house is looking very festive and I see you will be snug with your very own living warmer this year! Mocha is priceless. The finished blanket is lovely and I know your granddaughters will love them. xx Susan
