Hello out there! :-) How are you doing with the new normal? We're just rolling along, trying to do pleasant things. Dayle picked me some Bluebells and White Lilacs so I could make a bouquet. You should smell these, sitting right between our chairs. I didn't know how lovely Bluebells smelled!
Our weather got grey and rainy, which is fine with me, so I've been working away on making little flowers and leaves for my garland.
Almost all the flowers I've made are a different color and I have my favorites. I like the 3 on the right.. love the little dusty aqua one and lavender one.
We did have a sunny afternoon and had a few errands to run, so Dayle donned his mask and picked up some flowers for our hanging baskets. I had to laugh when he unloaded them. Apparently he has a thing for Petunias! I said, did you get any vegetables? Umm.. no. 🤣 But he did buy 2 tomatoes, 1 green pepper and 16 lettuces from our friend Gary who lives down the road. So, he planted those while I watched. :-)
I thank my lucky stars every day that we have 5 acres of land in a wonderful spot in the Columbia River Gorge area of Oregon. Sure, I wish we lived in a charming cabin overlooking the Pacific Ocean.. or a big lake.. or a thatched roof cottage in England on the sea.. or a villa on Lake Geneva. But you only have one life to live and this is a good spot.
Looking down our driveway to the road.
Our vegetable garden so far.
Chef Dayle made another roast chicken dinner on Monday evening, he's added another element, stuffing/dressing. YUM!!
And then last night.. he made his first quiche. He used a frozen pie crust. He might try making homemade crust next time. This one has bacon, mushrooms, onion and cheese. We have so many eggs he thought this would be a good way to use some up, this recipe calls for 6 eggs.
It was delicious!
I donate to and support the White House Historical Association and this is what I received for my donation. A really nice Christmas ornament of the portrait of President Kennedy. It's mission is to protect, preserve and provide public access to the rich history of America's Executive Mansion.
I put in an order for delivery of groceries late last evening and they were delivered at noon today. I'm SO impressed with Fred Meyer deliver, InstaCart. The woman texted me the whole time she was shopping, asking if I wanted this or that and only could not find one item she could not replace with something else. The delivery fee is only $9.95 and you can decide if or how much you want to tip. I choose a good tip as I'm so thankful for them doing this for us. Have you had groceries delivered yet?
Take care, my friends. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I love the bluebells in your pretty pitcher. Springtime! Dayle did good with the plants and the meals. You've definitely got a "keeper" in him. I love your little farm. It's always been such a peaceful place when I visited. We always want something different though, don't we? I have a lovely home but would love something like you have in the country.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a delivery service yet but have done Walmart pick-up twice. I would like to order some handsoap but that is never available. I may actually have to venture out and shop myself and that terrifies me. The battery for my key fob for my car died this morning so I had to go get that replaced and I was SO glad to get back home. I have a feeling this may scar some of us for life!
Blessings,
Betsy
Your garden is really coming along! I will be able to put my peas and lettuce in the ground this weekend but the rest will have to wait a while. I did delivery from Aldi on Monday and today we did a pick up at Sam's Club. I prefer the pick up because it's free! But it was nice to have the groceries delivered right to our door. Our fee for delivery was $3.99 and like you, we tipped well. I love your crocheted flowers, can't wait to see your finished project! Stay safe and well...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and delicious food! I've done the pick-up from Walmart now several times. I usually shop at a grocery store called Hannaford, but they have very restricted pick-up times so it's hard to get one. I've been happy with Walmart though and I always tip the person who packs up my car for me. A real relief not to have to go in the store.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the lovely bouquet of Bluebells and Lilacs~~~~ I'm looking forward to watching your garden and your crocheted flower garland grow. I have been making lots of soups and salads these days. I am glad you two are enjoying Dayle's yummy looking culinary efforts. I haven't tried having groceries delivered...my once a week outing other than walking the condo mile loop. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteThe bluebells are beautiful and I love the colours of your crochet flowers. Quiche has been a regular on our menu for years as we all love it and it's so easy to make. Dayle's doing a great job with the vegetable garden too, I wish I didn't have such a brown thumb and enjoyed gardening a bit more as I do love home grown produce. xx Susan
ReplyDeleteThe bluebells and lilac were a delight to see I can only imagine the smell. The garden is coming along nicely, I am looking forward to watching its progress. We eat quiche regularly here, it is a good way of using eggs. Egg custard is another, topped with a little nutmeg. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteMy bluebells have come up, but the new neighbours cats seem to enjoy lying in them and they've flattened them!! :( We've planted potatoes, but been unable to get any other veg plants or even seeds! We tried one delivery, but we had to wait a week for it to be delivered, then things were out of stock. Mostly we just go down the road to our local corner shop. Take care. Best, Jane x
ReplyDeleteYour delivery service sounds great! We have been doing a Walmart order online and picking it up but we don't get everything on our list. I LOVE petunias! I am so anxious to get some fresh flowers. I cut a few roses off my bushes today to put in 2 vases to enjoy inside. Take care and stay safe! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBluebells and lilacs - how wonderful!! Your chicken dinners look so yummy and now quiche! Which I love.
ReplyDeleteI have not ordered groceries to be delivered...I'm too picky and like picking out my own produce.
Ah lovely again here as always....love how Dayle loves petunias. We did have deliveries when on a 14 day lockdown but now do our own carefully when quiet times. In city at moment for a few days then will tackle the garden when back home next week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI live too far out for delivery, but I use the Kroger pick up option and I LOVE it. Started using it last fall and I don't see myself going into a store to shop for groceries ever again! They send me a text also, with out of stock items or substitutions. Dayle is the best guy! Cooking and planting the flowers!
ReplyDeleteI think your spot is so beautiful! I would give anything to live on your farm enjoying the beauty around you. I need to plant some plants in the back pool area but just feel discouraged about spending the money and going to yet another store I don't need to be out anymore than I am. Stay safe Teresa.
ReplyDeleteI love the portrait of President Kennedy, such a beautiful man, I wish he was in charge right now. Your husband’s cooking always makes me feel hungry, it looks so nourishing as well as delicious! I’m really enjoying seeing your garden come along and the materials used to make your garden beds look lovely as well as practical. The corrugated iron and hardwood is often used in buildings and gardens here in Australia xx
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty bouquet of bluebells and lilacs! I agree that bluebells have a beautiful scent....we used to play among them as children and to me they are the scent of spring! Your veggie garden will be lovely and so useful. Dayle's cooking always looks yummy. I'm glad you can get your shopping delivered. I've done online grocery shopping for quite a long time and that's mostly what we're doing now....though at first it was hard to get a slot and a bit frustrating compared to normal times, now it seems to be working ok. Have a lovely weekend dear Teresa XXX
