Happy May, my Friends! I just went out for a walkabout and snapped a photo of my "Sensation" Lilac as it's opened more. What an amazing variety of lilac. There are only 2 blooms on the plant though, hopefully next year there will be more.
Our first big bouquet of Lilacs got droopy so Dayle used the pruner on a long handle to cut me more. I then took all the cuttings to the outdoor dining table under the gazebo and cut the blooms to fit in the vase. Did you know if you cut the top flowers they're the biggest and straightest?
Our house smells quite wonderful right now. :-)
Stick your face right in here for a whiff.
I even had enough for 2 bouquets.
Kristi has gifted me with several different varieties of Lilacs over the years, this one is a big white single which we planted on the corner of the chicken yard and it's doing well. My other white one is a double bloom. I kinda like this best.
Dayle snapped this when the feeders were loaded with Goldfinches. They are such fun to watch and listen to. They fly like dive bombers, also.
Kristi read on my blog that I wanted a white Bleeding Heart, and she brought it over on Wednesday. Wasn't that sweet?
Kristi also got some fun plants for her garden, following are 3 of them. I love the green and purple of this one.
I can't remember what these are, Columbine?
And this big droopy Angel's Trumpet.
My orchid is all bloomed out.. it lasts for a long time. So cool.
My beloved Lily-of-the-Valley is in bloom! The others weren't bloomed out enough to bring in yet.. but you should just smell these amazing flowers! There is nothing like them. We got the vase at the beach last summer when my daughter and granddaughters were here visiting. We went to a little pottery place in the woods at the beach. Can you see the photo bomber?
Kristi gave me my birthday present while here! She made these herself!! She made all the yo-yos and created the pinecone ornament and she cut, sewed, embroidered and beaded the cute little fox. I'm so impressed and just love these! Thank you, Kristi!
I just love how she made this. :-)
I'll leave you with this photo of Dayle and his darling Mocha. These two are inseparable. She loves me just as much. She's actually at the groomer so it will be fun to see how she looks in an hour or so.
We just got a delivery.. I'll show you on Monday.. :-) I hope you're staying safe, we are trying our best here. Have a fabulous weekend and a wonderful May! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Great pic of Dayle and Mocha 😀😀 Hello from me....so much colour in that huge garden of yours. Love what Kristi made you she is very talented 😀😀 About to do a post as almost 2 weeks since I did. Cold and Wet and Windy here xo
ReplyDeleteHappy May! You have started it out flowertastically! Thanks for sharing the beautiful bouquet of flower photos, Teresa. I enjoyed viewing them. ...so lovely Kristi found a white Bleeding Heart for you! xx
ReplyDeleteI love love your lilac pictures! They are so lovely. I feel as if I could smell them. I do love lilacs but I don’t think they do well in the south – have not seen any here. My mother used to have some in her garden. If you took them inside, the whole room would smell like their sweet fragrance.
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell those lilacs. I love lilacs so much. What a beautiful gift from Kristi. And she brought you the bleeding heart too! She loves you very much. Dayle and Mocha look like happy campers. She obviously has settled in very, very well with you two. She won the doggy lottery! :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
The lilac is beautiful, I really do wish I could smell it. Such a great gift from Kristi, made with love. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. Love your gifts from Kristi - how sweet!! Your lilacs are gorgeous. Mine is still very tight buds - none have opened yet, but I did pick a few lily of the valley yesterday and have them on the windowsill by my sink. Now when I wash dishes, I can catch their scent! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of Lily-of-the-Valley. Mine haven't bloomed here yet but I'll be cutting and putting them inside the house once they do bloom. What a neat vase for your Lily-of-the-Valley. Our dog grooming places re-open this coming Monday. I'll have to get my dogs on the list. I've been scissor cutting some of their hair up to now. It's surprising how different a dog looks after a haircut isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYour Kristi is so thoughtful, Teresa! I love the white bleeding heart she gave you and yes her flowers are columbine--such pretty varieties. The British refer to them as Aquilegia or granny's bonnet. The fox is adorable--such good needlework.
ReplyDeleteKristi did a great job on your presents. Our groomers are still closed, my boys are beyond in need of a hair cut. Thinking of you and sending you a hug Teresa. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! I love Lilacs! Kristi is talented, sweet gifts. Sweet vase with the Lily-of-the-Valley. I too love the aroma of Lily of the Valley. Beautiful photos! Take care!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful May Day flowers! Stunning lilacs! Your gifts from Kristi are lovely...she is so kind. Love your lily of the valley vase...just perfect. Our dog groomers is shut at the moment.....my husband gave our dog's tail a severe trim today so now it looks like a piglet's instead of a great big fluffy plume! Have a good week ahead and stay well dear Teresa xxx
ReplyDeleteOh Dayle and Mocha. Wonderful. Kristi makes such great gifts. I love your fox!!!!!!! Thanks for your continued help with volunteer limits. Thanks for your beautiful photos. Love ya Teresa
ReplyDeleteHello Teresa and happy May to you.The lilacs are beautiful. Have one but it has never done well. Also have a Bleeding Heart. Noted someone said that the British called them Granny's Bonnet/Aquilegia but that to me is a completely different plant?
DeleteGreat photo of Dayle and Mocha. Hugs Anne X
