More Rain...

I'm starting to think we should build an ark.  But living 650ish feet above the Columbia River we should be okay.  :-)  But geez.  I'm afraid our garden will just drown.  It needs sun, too.  Dayle said he saw a zucchini flower, though.  I wouldn't know as I haven't been outside for a garden tour in days due to cold rain.  We even had thunder and lightning yesterday evening.  Plus.. it's supposed to rain for 4 more days until we see partly sunny.  Phew.

Dayle ventured into Costco a few days ago for the first time in 3 months and brought home this pretty bouquet.

I put the doily I crocheted on our glass topped rattan table next to the pellet stove.  I put my bunny that I sewed there as I love it.  Plus my bunny door stop.

Dayle also brought in this bouquet of Double Delight roses as he knew they would not do well in the rain.

These flowers are interesting as they only turn red when sun hits them.. so as you can see they are sun-deprived.. like I am.  :-)

I spied a wild rabbit in our pasture behind our house, right next to the tall grasses.. I just googled to find out the genus of our rabbits and it looks like ours are the Eastern Cottontail.

He was pretty far, Dayle estimates 75 feet or so.. so the photo isn't really clear.

Our youngest grandson is staying with us for a few days, which is nice.  I've gotten more crochet accomplished and am nearing being done with the purple body of it.  I ordered 2 more skeins of purple as I didn't want to run out and have to stop production and they arrived yesterday.  Plus I intend to make a matching hat with it.  I am also going to crochet a face mask for myself.  Has anyone seen a pattern for a crocheted mask?  I will google it.  Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Any exciting plans?

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I could use some of that rain here. They promised us rain yesterday but it was just hot and muggy.
I have never heard of those roses before. They are very pretty even if they are sun deprived. Araignee

  2. Pretty flowers to distract us from the rain, and cute bunnies inside and out! I am ready for more sun, too! A couple of posts back I showed a crocheted mask I made. I used the beginning of the diagonal potholder pattern we like. When it was a rectangle large enough to cover from the tip of my nose to my chin I stoped crocheting. I left it as an open pocket so that I could insert a coffee filter or tightly woven cotton squares of material. On each corner I crocheted a chain long enough so that I could easily tie the mask on. Once tied I can pull the mask down and let it hang around my neck until I need to pull it up again. I used a cotton yarn and size G hook, but if I were ambitious enough I can imagine that using a size 3 Elizabeth cotton thread and a smaller hook would make a finer lighter weight mask I might like better. xx

  3. Dayle always brings you the prettiest flowers. We saw a bunny in our side yard last week and last year I discovered a litter of baby bunnies in one of my gardens! How nice that your grandson is visiting for a few days.

  4. I was at Deb's Cashmere Cape store to day and she said she meant to PING you to see how the yarn is behaving! I told her your loving the purples. Great that your grand is over! We have some rain, and now we have a rain gauge!!! 5/7 inches the other day and 1/2 in yesterday. Still, my flowers wanted to wilt this afternoon, so I watered them. I Feel like I've been babying them since I planted last fall and they sprouted in spring. I want FLOWERS!

  5. I'm glad you're making a hat to match your shawl. Will it be a beret like the one you wear that I like so much? I hope so.
I'm also glad that you are getting to spend some quality time with Caleb and having some great talks with him. Grandparents add so much to the younger generations life.
If you crochet a mask, make sure to add a filter of some sort like Gracie said. You need much more protection than just the looser weave of crochet.
We're in the middle of a thunderstorm right now at the lake. It's really awesome sounding but we have had enough rain. It's rained all but one day this week. I wish it would be spaced throughout the summer instead of dumped all at once and then nothing like we usually get.
    Take care and stay dry!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. What an unusual rose - I've never seen anything like that! Sweet bunny. We were over at our son's and Mailing's last night. Saw a fox, a young buck, some rabbits, a hawk, bunnies and bats!! It was a beautiful evening.

  8. Those flowers are so pretty and really brighten up your home on a rainy day. Love the bunny - I am always looking for nature in my small, suburban yard - don't get quite as much as you. Every little bit helps tho! Thanks for posting.

  9. Plenty of rain here, too. Not quite build-an-ark-type of rain, thank goodness. We actually managed a long walk without getting soaked, which is good. Enjoy the weekend with your grandson xx

  12. Teresa, I know you must be tired of all that rain, but I wish you could send us some! It's so dry here. I had to water everything today. Your roses are so pretty. I bet you will enjoy the weekend with your grandson!

  13. Too much rain in some places and not enough in others! It's a pity we can't just order what we want but that is nature and we have to make the most of what we get. Your flowers are lovely and the rabbit looks cute but hope he doesn't eat your garden.

  14. Such beautiful flowers that Dayle bought for you and a joy to see the little rabbit in and around the garden. Loved the Doily, so very pretty. Hope you manage to find a pattern for a mask.

  17. I'm afraid I can't help you with the facemask pattern but there appears to be lots of helpful suggestions. I have a pack of facemasks that I bought but our numbers are so low here I haven't really needed to use them. I've decided to keep them in case I need to go someplace really crowded or on public transport (which I prefer to avoid completely).
You've managed to get some lovely sunny photos despite all your rain. Down here we're 2 weeks into winter but the weather hasn't been too bad. It averages about 16c (60 f) each day. Maybe cloudy with a bit of sun. Occasional frosty mornings. But I've had the fireplace roaring every day with a pot of vegie soup on.
I love your cute bunny photos! I never thought of wild rabbits being a particular species. I should look up ours! xox Hugs to you and yours
