I snapped these photos when I returned home. We took Mocha with us so Dayle could hug her on the way in. While I was driving home she saw something that frightened her on the floor of the car and made this odd guttural sound.. twice.. and got very afraid and was shaking and trying to crawl into my lap. I hope like heck there is not a mouse in my car. Gads.
So.. I'm home and worrying. I snapped a photo of my "nest" next to my easy chair. I have a small white painted cabinet with 3 basket drawers. The top is just big enough for me to place my MacBook Pro, the Apple Extreme Port Base Station Wireless Router and a few decorative items such as my Zz plant, a jar of vintage faux tortoise shell knitting needles, a cedar bark lidded basket I made in a class at the Damascus Fiber Arts School.
When I visited the Laura Plantation near New Orleans, I bought this candle holder made from an original porch spindle removed during the restoration of the house after a fire! Much of the house was built using Cypress wood. Isn't this neat? The house was built originally in the early 1800s. I dress up my printer by putting my yarn baskets and vintage Shaker wood boxes on top. What? You don't do that? :-)I have many of my octopus ink paintings on this wall, along with a bronze mask by Lillian Pitt, native American artist and a friend of mine.
I also put some lavender in a little vintage pottery perfume bottle from Devon in England.
One of these days I'm going to share some of these needles. :-)

Edited to add: He came through the surgery well, the surgeon said she did not see anything suspicious in the thyroid she removed. He is out of recovery and in a room and is being taken care of. I was able to talk to him also. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!
Keeping you and Far Guy in my prayers. I hope everything goes well... he sure has had a rough time of it. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteHoping you are finding enough to do to occupy your mind and time while you wait. It is tough, for sure. My husband has had six surgeries, so I understand. But aren't we fortunate that medical science has advanced so much in our lifetime? Thinking of you here and praying for a good outcome for your dear Dayle.
ReplyDeleteTeresa, you are both in my thoughts, I hope Dayle is out of surgery now and that he has a swift recovery and is back home very soon. Your candle holder is lovely, great history behind it. And what an amazing plant on your printer, those leaves! The vase from Devon is pretty - it's a long way from home! Sending you hugs and my very best wishes to you both. CJ xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteSending you both good thoughts for a good outcome. Beautiful surroundings for Dayle to recuperate in!

ReplyDeleteAt 7 AM I looked at the clock and was thinking of you, wondering where you were in the process and now I know. I am asking the Lord to bless and comfort you. Today is my youngest grandson's 13th birthday! They had downed branches from the hurricane yesterday, but were grateful that was all and they did not lose power. love and ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteOh Teresa, I'm so glad to see the update. I will continue to keep you and Dayle in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad he's doing ok. I'm a worry wart so I'd be pacing the floor. Even when I get my labs( for cancer markers)I'm nervous, even after all these years. I hope he's home resting and cuddling Mocha.

ReplyDeleteI was also glad to see the update on Facebook this afternoon. How long will Dayle have to remain in the hospital? Mocha will definitely be missing him too.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your nest. I have those too. I used to have one by my chair at home AND at the lake. Now it's just here in the trailer, wherever it is at the moment. :-)

Betsy

ReplyDeleteI'm glad Dayle made it thru surgery and good news there's nothing bad around thyroid. I sit things on top of my photo printer I have not used in awhile. I enjoy seeing your photos. Hope fully you'll figure out what was making doggie upset. No fun. Take care and a good rest of your week. Dayle home soon hopefully. Hugs! X------X :,}
ReplyDeleteGood news in your update!! So glad he came through the surgery well. It is scary these days (always scary, but seems more so now). I like you little basket and your knitting needles - very pretty!
ReplyDeleteteresa,
ReplyDeletenot being able to wait while our loved ones are having procedures is difficult. driving all the way home for you must have been unnerving. i am so glad it went well.
upon my printer in the laundry room is the royal "throw up pan." we had one growing up and i've had one for my kid! its a stainless steel, copper bottom stew pot with handles on either side. don't worry, printer: it gets cleaned every times it's used!!!
peace and love from pdx,
melissa s.
I wish I had been available to help you through this scary day. So glad the surgeon did not find anything suspicious. Great news! Hope Dayle is doing well.
