Thank you to all of you who have left supportive comments on my last post. It means so much to us. Kristi and the boys visited their house to bring more things over here yesterday and then last evening I drove Dayle, Travis and Kristi to the house to get more things which we packed into my car and the other cars and they each drove a vehicle over here. Our son Shawn and grandson Michael also have 2 trucks here. You would not believe how smoky it was over there and this is what it looks like here right now. When I went out to take this photo the smell of smoke was like sitting around a campfire.
Our first tomato to turn red without the skin bursting. This beauty will be used on our luncheon sandwich. :-)
The kid's dog, Australian Shepherd named Ozzie, is getting used to being here instead of his house. Mocha is being kind of protective of us which causes some strife but by and large they are doing well.
We are still enjoying bouquets of Dahlias and roses and I light the little lantern in the evenings to cheer us up.
Teresa, you have so much going on right now. I am sorry that Dayle is having to have radiation, but I'm glad that the treatment is available. It will be hard to have him staying elsewhere I know, and you are both in my thoughts. I'm glad his eye surgery went well, great that his vision is improved. The smoke looks bad where you are, I'm sorry the fires are still burning. It must be very worrying for your son. I really hope that they manage to put the fires out very soon. Sending you hugs from this side of the pond. I hope it is a good weekend for you all, or as good as it can be, CJ xx
ReplyDeleteWow....you've got a heavy load my dear. That has to be terrifying. I just saw an article about an Oregon fire chief pleading with Facebook to take down all the groups pushing misleading rumors about the fires. Just when you think Facebook can't get more irresponsible than spreading election misinformation, you have this. I am so glad I deleted my account years ago. Stay safe. Araignee
ReplyDeleteYour sky looks like our sky! It's disgusting outside. I'm so glad that the family is there with you. I haven't heard any news for your side of the state yet. Are they making progress on the containment yet? I did hear yesterday that Lincoln City is doing a bit better.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Dayles eye surgery went so well and glad that Kristi will be there to take you to your appointment. I just know yours will go just as well too. I am sorry to hear about the treatments though. How great that he can stay in the trailer right on your property though.
2020 has just been too much. we've had 4 deaths in our family so far. Close relatives too. Others have just been diagnosed with cancer. The selling of our home of 20 years and moving into the trailer. COVID. Cancelling the wedding. Twice because of travel restrictions around the world. Among other things. It's just been not good. Please keep me posted my dear friend. Call or text anytime.
Blessings and a huge hug,
Betsy
In the midst of all the stress I am so glad to learn that Dayle's eye surgery went well! It is encouraging to know your family members are helping each other, you are enjoying the first ripe tomato from your garden, and Mocha and Ozzie have minimal strife. Thanks for the beautiful views of your cheery table, flowers and lantern light. love and ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteDear friends,
ReplyDeleteLet's all pray for Teresa, Dayle, their family and all families going through hardships at this time. Thank you Teresa and Dayle for sharing your thoughts and kindness with us.
Goodness, Teresa, you have much on your plate now. I'm so glad to see an update this evening and will be praying for you and your family. Take care, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh dear lady! That orange sky we know all too well after our massive bushfire season down here in Australia over November last year to Feb this year. The choking air for weeks on end. I hope you have you evacuation plan ready. As soon as I saw the news this morning that the fires were ripping through Oregon, my first thought was to jump online to see if you were safe. It's horrifyingly scary. But the message they drill into us here is to have an evac plan and not to wait until the last minute. Sending much love to you, Dayle and your family. Xox Lou
ReplyDeleteGosh Teresa so much worry. Keeping you all in our thought. All the best with your eye surgery and Dayles extra too.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the sky color. Ours is getting better. Lots of ash on Megan's car. Thankful Travis and Kristi are able to remove things from their house. Hopefully it won't burn. Hope Dayle's thyroid surgery goes well. Sad he has to stay away from you for awhile. Praying for you all in the bittersweet time in life!!! Hugs!!! :,}
ReplyDeleteI’m keeping everything crossed that all is ok with your family. Such a hard time for you to live through. Your home must be a comfort to you at the moment. Hope the treatment for Dayle goes well and he doesn’t have to isolate for too long. Wishing you better times ahead. B x
ReplyDeleteWhat a stressful time for you all. I do hope the fires are soon extinguished. Glad Dayle's eye surgery went well and good luck for yours. It's a shame that Dayle will have to be separated from you all, but at least you can see him from a distance! Just keep telling yourself - "This, too, will pass." xx
ReplyDeleteThinking of you all, Teresa. Take care x
ReplyDeleteYou have been in my thoughts and prayers this past week as I heard on the news about the fires and the spread. Hope all goes well with Dayle's treatment and your eye surgery. Stay strong sweet friend and take care.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for your supportive family, Teresa. It is a comfort that you can help each other during this stressful time. Best Wishes!
ReplyDeleteDear Teresa,
ReplyDeleteit's just one things after another, isn't it? There are blessings everywhere and I try to see them so that I don't spiral. I won't point out yours but I'll focus on mine!
Much love to your family.
Melissa in PDX
You have such a full plate right now. I will keep you all in my prayers. So glad that Dayle's eye surgery went well and I'm sure yours will as well. I hope the iodine treatment works well too. Travis and Kristi were smart to evacuate early and get as much of their belongings out just in case. Praying that those fires are out or at least contained soon. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteOh Teresa. IT is so good that Dayle is having this extra step done. I am sorry you have to have him isolate. It is so important. At least his eye surgery has gone well and is working! Im praying for you all. Your pretty eyes should improve post op too
ReplyDeleteOh my, i saw on the news about all our west coast states and the fires. My first thought was of you and your family. My daughter has friends that live in Washington State, we don’t really know anyone in California. It is so unbelievable all that you folks have been having to deal with. There is no option but to be strong, no one gives you a choice, do they. I’m so glad you have the love and support of your family with you. I pray God blesses you with some much needed rain. And I hope your Dayle makes a speedy recovery and you do well with your eye surgery.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you all and praying for you all. Stay safe and well. Hugs Anne xxx
ReplyDeleteYour smoke is definitely worse than ours down here in N Ca. But it is quite bad. I so hope you get some rain. Usually our rains don't come till October so there's that.
ReplyDeleteBTW, my daughter had the iodine radiation treatment for her thyroid ( not cancer) but Graves disease and Hashimoto and the 3 day isolation was fine and the treatment is easily tolerated. He should do just fine.
Oh Teresa, first all the fires and then the eye surgeries and iodine treatment. I remember my PET scan, I could not be near my kids for 48 hours due to the radiation and they were 7 and 3 at the time. At least he will be close and you can keep an eye on him. Sending all of you love during these tough times.
ReplyDeleteWe see a lot about the fires on our news here in UK, very scary! Keep safe,
ReplyDeletexx
dear Teresa, the number of wildfires, the loss and devastation, is heartbreaking. praying that the firefighters get a handle on them soon. continued safety for your family. be well.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa, I am sending you best wishes from Rye, Victoria Australia and pray that you are safe. We went though this scenario last summer. Fortunately we were safe but because there was so much smoke around we didn't know if the fires were next door or 100 kms away meaning we were constantly anxious for our safety. Your blog brings me so much joy and is a great inspiration for me. Thankyou and take care x
ReplyDeleteGoodness...the colour of that sky is quite ominous. I do hope it will clear soon and the fires are put under control. I have been watching the US fires on BBC World, so scary!! Keeping you in my thoughts Teresa...you have so much to cope with at present. Hope your eye surgery and your husband's treatment goes well. keep safe and take care Amanda x
ReplyDeleteHolding you close in my thoughts and hoping you all are ok!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Teresa it looks terrible out there. Please stay safe and poor Dayle too.. what more eh! Hugs xx
