A Big Sigh of Relief

It's official - we have a new President and Vice President of the United States of America - and the count for Biden-Harris is still going up as we finalize processing all ballots!!

People flooded the streets to celebrate!  Messages of support have come in from around the globe.  Church bells ringing in Paris, world leaders sharing congratulations.  Now we just need to all join together and make the best of our country for all of us.

The little maples in the circle are turning colors.

The walnut leaves are orange, the weeping birch ones are yellow and the pin oak is red.  :-)

In our cozy home Dayle baked some Cowboy Cookies and we put them on my jadeite cake stand for a photo.  :-)

Want one warm from the oven?

This recipe is one from Dayle's family.

Here is the recipe card I wrote up years ago, it was given to us from Dayle's sister Darlene.  You can see we've used this a lot.

My red shamrock is happy to be inside the warm house - they loved being outside during the summer.

Having fun with turkeys on the cake plate.

The red maple by the pond is turning a brilliant red.

Such an amazing color.

I feel so blessed to have 5 acres of land with our own little forest and gardens.

On my last post the election was not final but it has been called now.  Biden and Harris have the popular vote, plus the electoral vote - Biden 290 - Trump 214.  Biden popular vote - 75,635,020 - Trump 71,051,086.  4,583,934 more votes!

Unfortunately, Trump is refusing to concede, like all presidents with class have done in modern history.  He continues to insist he won, that the counters have cheated and is issuing multitudes of lawsuits to disqualify the legitimate win.  How sad is that?

But I am going to concentrate on the positive and celebrate.  We have a lot of work to do to bring our country back to it's former glory.

And I want too take this moment to say how proud I am of my fellow citizens to elect not only a honorable president but his female running mate Kamala (comma-law) Harris.  This gives all the women and girls of this country an open door to the future.  Bravo!

I hope you have a wonderful week.. and month.. and year!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Over here in Spain people are delighted you have a newly elected president. The Spanish prime minister has already sent his congratulations to Biden and Harris. Likewise my family in the UK tell me that the British are totally relieved about the change in politics which will take place in January 2021. Personally I am tremendously pleased for you!! Keep well Amanda x

  3. I feel my happy buzz wearing off every time I check the news. The silly antics of the loser and his minions is not good for my blood pressure. I know all his protestations will come to nothing but I feel my intelligence is being insulted.
Those cookies look yummy. Now I want cookies for dinner. Araignee

  4. Teresa,
Looking forward to peace and quiet from the White House.

  5. My heart is full, my nerves slightly less frayed and I have hope again. Hope that the lies, conspiracies' and all the damage can stop. We need to come together that is true, but that won't be easy with the president contesting everything instead of bowing out with grace and class. Bye 45, you have done so much damage and will go down as the worst president our proud country has ever had.

  6. Such wonderful news! The whole world breathed a big sigh of relief. Over the past few days I have seen videos online of former politicians who either were presidents (George Bush Snr) or wannabes (like the late Senator John McCain) giving their concession speeches when they did not win the presidency and they were so gracious. They called for unity, peace and offered to help transition in the new president with honor and grace. No.45 is being ridiculous. However a friend of mine who is a psychologist recently made the point that as a narcissist, he would be having a tremendous mental health breakdown at the moment as narcissists cannot cope with losing. So from a mental health perspective that is really very sad. I am also loving your autumn trees! They are colouring up so beautifully! I am super envious of your big 5 acres!!! xox Louise

  7. Moving forward I pray that we are united states growing in ways to practically love one another and the planet under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all, better than any former glory. That may challenge our patience, but if one wins one has no fear of examining and encouraging due process that proves ones' success. The Lord is blessing you with much beauty around you and some yummy looking cookies to enjoy as well dear Teresa! Thanks for sharing.((hugs))

  8. The way 2020 has been going I was so nervous about this election. I'm so relieved at the results. I'd love to have one of Dayle's cowboy cookies to celebrate! They look so pretty on your jadeite. And your trees are beautiful in their Autumn colors. Enjoy a happy week, Teresa.

  10. And still he cries foul and his followers believe what he says. It really and truly is so very pathetic. I do not understand such a mindset or how anyone can follow along so blindly and think they are seeing truth and honor. Or maybe that's not what they want. Perhaps they enjoy turmoil and betrayal. For some people, that makes for good tv. Really happy that decency and diplomacy will be restored.

  11. It looks like the autumn colors are in their full glory at your farm. Meanwhile, snow is falling again here tonight and covering everything with white once again. Those cookies look wonderful and delicious. Thank you for providing the recipe for us all. I'm looking forward to seeing the top for your cake plate soon.
I do try very hard not to bring politics up, either way, but I do hope that peace will reign and people will set the vitriol aside on both sides and remember that we are the UNITED States of America, not the divided states. A country divided against itself will fall. I love this country and what it has stood for for well over 200 years. I want to see it continue to be a beacon of goodness in the world.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  12. Here in the UK, I am celebrating with you. I found it very refreshing and reassuring to hear a US President (elect) talking about healing and working together and not "Build a wall!" I hope, both for the USA and the rest of the world, that the healing begins quickly. xx

  13. Oh it's wonderful new isn't it, I'm absolutely thrilled and so happy for you all. The future is bright! Your garden is looking absolutely glorious with its autumn colour. Love the old recipe card, there's something very nostalgic about old recipes, I treasure the ones I have, especially those that other people have handwritten out for me. CJ xx

  17. Cheers! Cheers! Cheers!
And Cowboy Cookies? Those look so good. When I saw the recipe includes oats... yum! They must be very good. All your pictures make me long for a good, lengthy Oregon visit. My Mother is on the coast, near Coos Bay, and my Aunt lives near Corvallis. Beautiful state, Oregon.

  18. I'm enjoying the colorful trees in our area. Is it more colorful this year or is it just me? I have an old ranger cookie recipe card from when I was in high school with my friend Kathy. We made it when we were together at her house. I feel like re writing it. Thanks for the link you gave me for the crocheted pumpkin. I saw that it was crocheted not knitted. I saw instructions for knitted one as well. Take care. Stay warm as I heard there's to be able later this week. ❄⛄

  19. I love all of the various colors in your yard! You are lucky to have so much land to enjoy.
I am thrilled and relieved that Biden/Harris won. How nice it will be to have a group in the White House that will know what they are doing!

  20. It is indeed wonderful news. It is a hard road ahead, but one that I am sure they will do their best to pave a path to peace and unity.

Your land must be such a beautifull place to wander, such colours!

  22. I have some relief about the election, but people around my small town think it is all fraud. I just don't get that attitude. I am glad Biden won! Too many Trump supporters around here!

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's ironic that so many people are believing charges of fraud based SOLELY on the word of a long-time fraudster! They need a reality check, big-time. Your autumn garden is beautiful. Autumn in my neck of the woods was a big wash-out. Just when things were getting colorful, along came rain and winds to spoil it.

  24. Such beautiful fall photos... thanks for sharing. I love cowboy cookies, they are a favorite here too. I am glad the election is over but I think we are in for a rough road between now and January 20. All we can do now is pray.

  25. hi teresa, i'm a little late in catching up with your posts. i cried my eyes out the ENTIRE TIME harris and biden were speaking. i'd dry my face off then start crying again! i am decidedly less anxious with the electoral vote obviously favoring biden/harris and the rational people accepting this fact and moving forward. nevertheless, as you sad, inauguration is where it's at. let's get some work done and fix this broken country. i can't put all my eggs in biden's basket, but his basket is so much more hopeful than the last four years.
    peace in pdx,
    melissa
