We have a few vine maples around our property and this is the view out of our family room window.
This is the window to the front yard.
I rarely show photos of the living room as we spend most of our time in the family room. But my friend and house-sitter Shirley did some rearranging and dusting and it looks so nice I snapped a few photos.
This cabinet was Dayle's mother's prize possession and we are happy to have it in our home after her passing. I have filled it with my collection of Shawnee Pottery in their King Corn line. Crystal vases on the top.
I admit to having a bit of a cabinet obsession. :-D The first in the room was the antique oak secretary. Then we inherited the oak china cabinet, and THEN I inherited the etagere from my friend Sally when she passed last year.
On election day I took a photo of my little 4th of July parade figurines.
Now my friends - I apologize for not speaking my mind in my last post about our current election situation. I was assured by my readers that it is my blog and I should speak my truth so here goes.
4 years ago after the election I wrote a blog post called "Bye Bye, Miss American Pie" - you can click on the link to read it. I just re-read it and stand by everything I wrote.
I tried my best to accept that man as our leader but each and every day after he took office he proved to me, my fellow liberals and progressives and to our allies around the world that he was ill-suited for this important leadership position - and we all looked on in horror at those reprobates he put in his cabinet, the lies, the horrific way he treated reporters and the press calling them the enemy of the people, the ripping of crying babies and children out of their mother's arms and put them in cages with inadequate food and just a thin space blanket to keep them warm (545 children still have not been returned), the way he took America out of the Paris Climate Accord, struck down all the environmental protections, spent $142,000,000.00 on golf trips in 4 years, attempting to eliminate the Affordable Care Act during a deadly global pandemic... and the list goes on and on,
The worst part is, he cares more about being re-elected than the 240,000 Americans dead. He has not allowed the scientists to speak the truth and has been the worst role model for our safety by not wearing a mask because he is too vain and thinks he looks bad with one on. So now his followers refuse to wear masks and brag about their risky behavior. They go to his super spreader rallies and have parties as they are emulating him. And they are dying and they are killing friends and family. So their leader will be proud of them for being like him.
The election is still waiting for ballot counting. But I hope like heck that this evil man is removed from office before he can do more damage to our country and our people and yes.. to the world.
So. There it is. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Just wanted to say thank-you for sharing your thoughts in a respectful way, I think that is the best way to influence others for good. I have been nervously optimistic about the election results and will be so glad if I never have to see or hear from 45 again.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes-Rebecca
Teresa, I think you should speak your mind on your blog. I agree with everything you said and often say so on my blog, tahoegirl. I get the occasional troll but I just move it too spam and am done with it. I just hope we get results soon and that it is what we hope for. I don't think our country would survive another 4 years with Trump in office.
ReplyDeleteTeresa - I agree 100%
ReplyDeleteThis week reminds me of a biblical moment in the making - The United States will return back to God's hands. The people have spoken loud and clear - money is NOT EVERYTHING. We are a people who value respect and dignity for ALL, here in the U.S.A and beyond our borders. I did not vote for this evil in 2016 nor this time or ever. God Bless America!
We continue to wait with high high hopes that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will lead our country. They are proven leaders. Im waiting to pop the champagne
ReplyDeleteImpressive blog post! Your header photo of Mt Hood is so beautiful. Every time I see a photo of Mt. Hood I think of my oldest brother who served in the Korean War and is buried in the Veterans National Cemetery below Mt. Hood . He was a wonderful brother who was eight years older and I didn't really know him very well until his later years which I am so grateful for. He had a very challenging abusive childhood but he was the most loving kind person to every person he interacted with. I miss him so much. But, it is nice to be reminded of his love. Your home is museum beautiful with all of your collectables.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. He is a despicable human being and hopefully we will soon be rid of him.
ReplyDeleteDitto everything you said. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cabinets and your home sure looks clean and tidy 😀😀 Hugs and yes your blog and sure seeing lots here in Oz
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing the photos inside of your house as it reminded me of my visits with you and the girls and your family there. How nice of Shirley to rearrange and dust for you. It's wonderful to have such good friends. I was supposed to get my Grandma's antique secretary when she passed as I used to sit at it all of the time and "write letters." No one else ever showed any interest in it until she was gone and then it just "disappeared" somewhere. We never did know with who.
ReplyDeleteI talked to Dennis about Dayle's suggestion of Cobra and it will just be too expensive. Well over $1000.00/mo premiums. Thank you for the suggestion though. We're checking up on everything we hear about. I imagine it will be at least a couple of weeks until we know for sure what will happen with his job.
Blessings,
Betsy
Hear, hear, Teresa. Being in the UK, I try not to comment on other country's politics, but the sooner Trump is out of office, the better.
ReplyDeleteI love all your cabinets, and I love that you use and enjoy the treasures inside them. xx
Also agree with everything you say Teresa. I still cannot fathom how enough people voted for him to put him in power. It has been an appalling four years in so many ways. Well done for speaking out for what you believe in. I am waiting for the good news with baited breath. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteAmen!!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful! My mother had a thing for cabinets too and she loved filling them with all her collectibles. It didn't help that she lived across the street from the guy who owned the local antique store.
ReplyDeleteI can't agree with you more about our current lack of leadership. It was never any secret that Trump was a con. He has a long and well documented history of it. It was sad that he fooled so many and even sadder that they continue to believe his lies. He had his hand in our pockets the whole time enriching his crime family at every turn and now someone has to clean up the mess he made while healing the country and dealing with an out of control virus. God help us.
We are holding our breaths over here in Europe! Extremely interesting post Teresa and thank you for sharing your views on the actual situation. I also went back to your post that you wrote in 2016...quite an eye opener! I'd just like to add I hope the sun will break through soon, the clouds will be swept away and there will be clarity once again!! keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteThankfully, 45 is toast, whether he wants to admit it or not.
ReplyDeleteYour cabinets are so beautiful and I can see why you would want to keep each one. I agree with your opinion and I am hopeful that Biden will win (he is so very close now!) I think Biden's experience in government and his calm decency will help us heal. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteTeresa,I completely agree with, I have thought of you often during this election, words can't describe what I feel about this man and what he has done to your country, in the eyes of the world the man is a dangerous idiot,I can't understand how people have actually voted for him,or how they can believe the lies he has spun,I hope fervently America can be healed because it is a country close to my heart and I have met some amazing Americans and hope every day that they remain safe
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your lovely blog for about a year, your home is so cosy and colourful, and I love your wonderful china collections and the way you decorate your table for the seasons and festivals.
I live in Hastings in UK with my husband who is still a US citizen even though he has lived here with full residency since 1970! For the past four years our American flag has remained sadly indoors ... but we are getting ready to put it up outside on the balcony at the front of our house as soon as we hear a certain announcement :-)
Thank you for speaking out again today. Hugs from across the ocean to you and your family

Teresa - Biden and Kamala 273+ for our Nation's Renaissance!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains to the prairies…
Hello Teresa. Well done for all that you wrote. I do agree as do many. I am writing this just after we heard the good news. Congratulations USA. I am having a celebratory drink. Xxx
ReplyDeleteAll I can see is that WE WON!!!! What a needed relief!
ReplyDeleteEvery word you speak is the truth. Thank you Teresa.
ReplyDeleteFrom the UK I send my congratulations to you, my dear friends in California and the American people. Many people around the world will sleep more easily in their beds tonight knowing that decency and good values will be returning to the White House.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations from the Netherlands!! (Europe) Trump is out, Biden is in!! Like you, we are very happy and relieved!! I use to follow you for several years now. I love your blogs, you always inspire me! Love, Janneke.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so cosy and welcoming! And I woke up this morning down here in Kangarooland to the most wonderful news about your brand spanking new 46th President! I immediately wanted to pop over here and send you all hugs and congratulations! I'm so very happy for you all! Xox
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new President and Vice-President. I am so grateful that this is the outcome that we all have been praying for. What a relief for all the world❤️
ReplyDeleteAs I am from the UK I try not to pass comment on other Country's politics but I am thrilled that you are happy and look forward to seeing how events unfurl. It was a joy to see your beautiful sitting room and those gorgeous cabinets. You are certainly blessed with a stunning home.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new President and Vice-President! This is the news that we have all been Praying for. Such a relief for the world❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteI am relieved that your country has a new president now. I too cannot believe that anyone would vote for him, to have such a divisive figure in such a position of power must have made the last four years a very very difficult time. I really hope that your country can now start to heal the wounds that have been created over that time.
ReplyDeleteDear Teresa. So pleased that you spoke out today/yesterday (I am reading a day late). By now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and a bright one at that!! So pleased for all of the US, and you Teresa. Upwards and onwards xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the view of your pretty vine maples! Thursday morning I attended a small outside Christian service for a friend at Willamette National Cemetery. It rained and those attending wore masks, but the fall colors of the leaves were stunningly beautiful like your vine maples. I am grateful that as a veteran my husband's remains rest in such a lovely place and one day mine can join him. I am grateful we live in a country where we have freedom of speech and we can vote for those who serve in our government. I am grateful we have citizens who dare to serve and I pray the Lord blesses each one with wisdom and knowledge and love as they serve. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteAmen! Results are in!!! Your living room is so pretty Teresa!
ReplyDeletethings are looking up since friday!
ReplyDeletepeace and love in PDX
Melissa
Hear, hear! You are so right, Teresa.
ReplyDeleteLove your collection of cabinets that have a history and are filled with beautiful things.
Take care.
Thank you! Your words, your honesty make me feel easier about this election. It's just too disappointing to see so many people cling to him, still. I wish more people had your courage, and would say it aloud: Enough! He's no good. We can do better.
