🌲 Decking The Halls. 🌲

🌲 I'm happy to begin transforming our home into a holiday wonderland.. :-)  I put my Fenton glass snowman couple on my cake plate, added my jadeite trees and a ceramic house and strung it with firefly lights for the evening.  I was looking in my china cabinet drawer and found a case and opened it up and it was my mother-of-pearl handled cake server and meat fork.  I can see I'll be using my silver polish today.

The sun was shining over the weekend in between showers.  :-)

And in the evening I turn on the firefly lights.

I really do enjoy it when the sun shines in the dining room.

The deck keeps getting covered with fall leaves and Dayle seems too have to blow it off each day.

I put this little putz house and the animated and lit tree on the table next to my easy chair.  See the little train going around the base of the tree?  Dayle was a railroad engineer for Southern Pacific then Union Pacific for over 30 years, so I'm fond of trains.

I made several of these little snowmen for gifts YEARS ago and I'm so glad I kept 2 of them.  I used graduated sized circles of white cotton, basted around them, pulled the thread to make a ball, stuffed them and then hot glued them together, glued on a red and green button, drew on the face, made a little stocking hat from knit fabric, used a short piece of orange pipe cleaner for the nose and glued in 2 arms of twigs from our own trees and lastly, cut a scarf from some plaid fabric, pulling the threads to make a fringe.

Another year I made these little houses as gifts, I had a woodworker cut 2x4 boards into these houses and he also cut the little chimneys for me, then I painted the house and free-handed the doors, windows and decorations.

I rolled more candles over the weekend.

Dayle found my decorations in the attic and our grandson Hayden who spent the weekend with us carried them all down so we could begin putting up the mantel decorations.  I'm bummed as the lights on the wreath stopped working so I need to string it with more as I love it lit up.  Next up will be the wooden cranberry beads and stockings and the rest of the reindeer.  This is the "Before" picture.  LOL!

We got the carousel set up and going next to the TV cabinet.

And my Meadow blanket yarn package arrived, just 4 days after I ordered it.. all the way from Wool Warehouse in Birmingham, England!!  DHL is an amazing shipping company.

I think our tree is going to be delivered today.  Then I can begin hanging all the decorations on it.  Let's see how it looks by my next post.  How's it going on your end?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Thanks for inviting us in for a visit as you deck your halls, Teresa! You helped me feel right at home and welcome as I admired your decorating efforts thus far. I especially enjoyed seeing the photo of your beautifully made snowman, beeswax candles and your hand-painted house. It's exciting your new yarn arrived so quickly, and it will be fun to watch you stitch it into a lovely Meadow blanket. Last week I zipped in and out of the Gresham post office for stamps. Today I spent about an hour in line there mailing three packages! Friday Lis brought over a little tree I put up on the round table in front of the picture window. Fun! ❤️πŸ€—πŸŽ„

  6. Teresa, I adore the way you embrace and decorate for the holidays as they come around...you have such a gift for making a lovely, cozy home. It's wonderful to see all the holiday crafts you've made throughout the years...I wish I'd kept at least one of the various holiday crafts I've created over the years and given to my (grown) children and good friends.

  7. Hi Teresa, (and Dayle), Yay! We're decorating the house! I love decorating your house. :-) It's like seeing all of my own decorations every year. Each item you describe reminds me of past years blogs and visits to your home where I saw them before. I think this year especially, I'm craving that routine, that tradition. Maybe because the rest of the world seems to be going slightly crazy! I can't wait for Wednesday to see the rest of the decorations. How I wish I were driving over for our Christmas luncheon. Remember the year I flew over just for lunch? Ha! That sure sounds like a jet setter! I miss you girls.
    Blessings and a BIG hug,
    Betsy

  9. Where do I start Teresa? As I scroll down from photo to photo it is more and more thrilling!! I swear if I win the Christmas National lottery (its a big one here at Christmas) and when the C19 lifts and when we can travel (lot of ifs!!) I am popping over to the USA and shall knock on your door and ask for a tour of your house!! Everything looks so cosy and now with the extra delight of the Christmas decorations more so! Beautiful Christmas decorations!! keep well Amanda x

  11. I'm going to try once more to send you a comment as a few things changed on my wifi and computer set up. I've so enjoyed your jadeite collection and I bought a pair of lotus candle holders in honor of you introducing me to these wonderful pieces of glassware. The little trees are high on my list and I'll work on finding some. Hope your holiday season is filled with peace.

  13. I have lots of those plastic bins to unload here too. I will tackle it bit by bit and have my son bring up a bin each day to unpack. It will be nice to have the sparkle and memories to enjoy in each room.
