Thanksgiving 2020

We had a very different Thanksgiving but it was wonderful!  I put this little vignette together for fun.

Love me some turkeys!

This is last year, our older son had to work, so it was our younger son and his family with us.  What a feast!

Kristi wanted to make the dinner this year so we headed off at 2 pm to their house in Sandy.  Over the river and through the woods, to turkey dinner we go!  She had 2 of these cute turkey shaped butters on the table for the rolls.

Bravo, Kristi!  Turkey, dressing, candied yams, green beans, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy and rolls.  Yum!

She even made two pies for dessert, a spicy pumpkin and pecan pie with bourbon and sorghum syrup!

Kristi said she had her tree up.  Have you ever seen a Charlie Brown Christmas tree?  :-)  We sure had a nice day with our wonderful son, dear DIL Kristi and our beloved grandsons.

When we got home we had a nice evening, I lit one of my red candles and had it on the piano stool we use between our easy chairs.  I tried to capture the lacy top of the beeswax candle as it burns.

We had a snack of popcorn while sitting by the fire and watching tv before heading to bed.

I designed a Christmas card and had it printed and will pick it up on Monday so I can start sending them.  I'll share it with you then.  :-)  I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful weekend.  I'm going to pack away my turkeys and pilgrims, put the tablecloth in the laundry and get the bins up to the attic.  THEN... I will spread my tartan plaid tablecloth on the table and begin putting out some of my precious decorations.  YAY!  Plus our grandson Hayden is here for the weekend and is going to help Grandpa hang the Christmas lights on the house!

Any fun weekend plans at your home?  Do share!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. So glad you had such a nice day. I've enjoyed all your fall/Thanksgiving dรฉcor and am looking forward to your Christmas collection. I'm going to start slowly getting a few things out this weekend. We don't do too much - our dogs can't really reach anything but the 5 cats are relentless! xx Sue

  3. What a wonderful day you have had! The meal looks absolutely delicious...those turkeys in butter are unique! I do love those candles and I am already looking at buying sheets online. I thought I could do some candle rolling with my grand-daughter over Christmas. The thanksgiving ornaments are great and now I am looking forward to your Christmas decor. keep well Amanda x

  4. Yay, Kristi! The meal looked wonderful! I have never before seen butter so cleverly shaped and I think their Charlie Brown tree is precious :) I'm glad you enjoyed a cosy evening at home as well. I had a yummy mid-afternoon dinner and lovely fireside chat with a single girlfriend at her place and then raced home for a FaceTime visit with CA family...did lots of texting with family and friends yesterday...so much for which to be thankful! Today Elisabeth came over, brought me a little artificial Christmas tree and she helped me set it up and string some lights around the picture window. Cheery! xx

  5. Kristi is AmAzInG! I love those turkey butters. She put so much work and love into the meal for all of you. And that Charle Brown tree! It's so cute. I always enjoy seeing your collection of turkeys, but then again, I enjoy all of your collections. Since I downsized most everything, I enjoy seeing your beautiful things even more. Never fear, one of my most precious possessions is the float you gave to me. I absolutely love it and it's packed away safely for when I have a home again.
How fun it will be to see your Christmas decor. Especially the Jim Shore collection. I love those each year. Mocha is such a sweetie. She's happy to have you and Dayle home. Love to you both my dear friend.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. That is the cutest little Charlie Brown tree. :) Glad to hear you had a nice Thanksgiving and were able to spend time with family despite all the craziness that's happening in the world. I've been thinking I really need to get some popcorn to pop. My husband used to always buy microwave popcorn when the kids were little but when I realized the crap that was in those bags, I banned them. Popping on the stove is so easy so why even bother with bags of chemicals, right!??! Have fun switching out your holiday decor. I'm sure your Christmas card is going to be really lovely. Take care.

  8. That sounds like a lovely day, I'm so glad you managed to spend it with your family. The food looks amazing and the tree made me laugh. I shall look forward to seeing your Christmas card, I really like the American tradition of having your own specially made - so much more personal. Have a lovely weekend Teresa. CJ xx

  10. I was lucky to have 3 of my kids and 2 of my grandsons for Thanksgiving dinner at my home. One of the kids lives with me and the other kids had been tested. We wore our masks and enjoyed being together. What a treat for me!

  15. Your Thanksgiving was so nice, Teresa. Your daughter in law is a great cook! We enjoyed a different, but good Thanksgiving. We usually celebrate with all the extended family, but because of the Pandemic that was not possible this year. There is a surge of cases in our area.
We put up our slim tree and tomorrow we will begin to decorate it with our grandson.
