I brought out a candelabra that I commissioned a friend from my DAR group, Dena, to paint for me a few years ago. It's Scandinavian art and I just love it. I put 5 of my red beeswax candles in it and lit it and ohhh how pretty it is.
Here is a closer look at the beautiful artistry my friend painted for me.
The candlelight illuminated the flowers Dayle surprised me with.
I just took this photo.. the sun came out after days of rain.
A year or two ago I made my sister Denise a turquoise bracelet similar to mine. She wore it 24/7 and loved it, but the twisted steel beading wire broke. So, she brought it back to me to repair. Luckily none of the beads were lost when it came apart.
The good part about it was I could just transfer the beads from the old one to the new. The beads are Sleeping Beauty turquoise rondelles from the best mine, unfortunately that mine has been closed so there will never be more of them. Isn't the color amazing?
All done! Denise came out yesterday to pick it up and brought us a freshly baked pan of cinnamon rolls for our Christmas gift. :-D
The deliveryman just brought this compote for me, it goes with the candle holders Dayle got me for Christmas so he gave the thumbs up for me to get this from eBay. Yay! Santa and the snow couple approve.
This will be the centerpiece on our dining table all year. I've wondered what to put in it.. fruit? A frog with flowers? What do you suggest?
We'll have to clear the table on Wednesday so I can set it for Christmas Eve dinner with our son, DIL and grandsons. Dayle is making roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy. I'll be helping with the candied yams and green bean bake. Kristi is bringing a Christmas cake! I can't wait to see it.
My blog friend Betsy has the most adorable granddaughter, Piper. My friend Bev posted on Facebook asking if anyone would like this vintage book called "Betsy Beaver" so I asked for it. I thought it would be fun to gift it to Piper in honor of her grandmother. My other blog friend Gracie gave me the garden children's book for my birthday, after which I read I decided to send along, too. Look how happy Piper is! Betsy had told me she reads to her dolls. :-)
A fun factoid is that when I was the executive director of the Friends of Vista House I was buying books from a longtime bookseller in Portland and he showed me the Betsy Beaver book that he had cases of unsold books written in 1945! I decided to order them to sell in our gift shop in Vista House and I wonder if that is where Bev bought the book.
I hope you're enjoying the run up to the 25th and have a wonderful Winter Solstice today! There is much for us to look forward to. But stay safe until we beat this virus!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Your beeswax candles look stunning in that lovely candelabra. Your new jadeite bowl is a good find. You will have to change it for the seasons - I can picture filling it with shiny bright ornaments for Christmas, colorful eggs for Easter, flowers in the spring and summer, etc., etc. You have so many beautiful things that you could show off in there. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Teresa!
ReplyDeleteThe red beeswax candles and the candelabra certainly compliment each other and I so admire the light you were able to capture in your beautiful photos. I have been trying to figure out how to better use my iPhone's camera. It will be fun to see what you decide to display in the pretty compote. Thanks for sharing your wonderful artistry in many mediums, my friend...the beads are so lovely. What a delight to see Miss Piper, and imagine her reading her new books to her dolls! ❤️🤗❤️🌟❤️
ReplyDeleteYour new compote is beautiful and looks so nice on the table. I agree with Ellen, you could change it by the seasons. I think Denise's gift of cinnamon rolls would be a wonderful Christmas gift and it was wonderful to see you working with beads again. She must appreciate your artistry to wear it 24/7.
ReplyDeleteAnd look at my smiling Piper on your blog. :-) I'm going to ask her to read the books to me too. She reads to me when we have our lessons, just like her teacher must read to her class. Thank you again for being so generous and giving her the books. She was SO excited as you can tell.
Have a great Christmas week, preparing all of the goodies. How fun to have Hayden stay all week. Lucky you!
Blessings,
Betsy
Love your candelabra with your hand made candles so pretty, as is the turquoise bracelet. Lovely that your grandson is staying with you :) B x
ReplyDeleteSo much good cheer and merriness... it's a treat to pop over for a visit!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
The candle holder is just gorgeous! I took a class years ago in that type of painting and I can't even imagine being talented enough to be able to do that. I am in awe. Araignee
ReplyDeleteYour home is absolutely beautiful with your lovely Christmas decor. I think I know Dena who painted this for you!! She used to be our lodge president for Daughters of Norway in Tacoma before she moved. She was an expert in rosemaling. I wish for you and your family a blessed Christmas. Pat xx ♥️🎄♥️
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a frog and flowers in your striking new Jadeite dish Teresa! Such a splendid collection!! That Scandinavian candelabra looks so right where you have put it and the red candles are perfect too. What a very pretty bracelet!! keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteWinter soltice love from summer soltice ❤❤ How gorgeous is Piper and sure will love the books. Back in the city today quiet as just us 😀😀
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable to send Piper these books, look at her adorable face! Love the candles and holder. Stay safe Teresa.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely holiday table of goodies you have Teresa. The candelabra is a work of art. Your friend had quite a painting talent. When in doubt buy flowers Dayle, always a welcome addition to the house. Social distancing in PA so unable to see grandsons but I am looking ahead to many more holidays instead of focusing on this one. Be safe and healthy!
ReplyDeleteWe are being very safe. Can't understand those who do not. My nurse daughter, and all her healthcare friends are exhausted already.
ReplyDeleteThe bracelet is lovely. Mmmm Turkey! We are having Filet because It is just Fireman and I.
I just saw the two planets together! They were not touching when I saw them, but very close!
What a beautiful candelabre Teresa! Not only are you so talented and artistic, so are your friends! Love that compote bowl too. I'd be filling it with fruits. So sweet of you to send those books to Piper.
ReplyDeleteThat candelabra is amazing! So pretty with your red candles. And the new addition to your jadeite collection is gorgeous. You are acquiring so many lovely pieces. I'd say fixing a bracelet and getting fresh cinnamon rolls in exchange was a pretty good deal. I saw Betsy's post about how excited Piper was to receive her lovely books. And what a wonderful story behind the Betsy Beaver book. Enjoy your holiday happenings. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to read that you and your family are doing well during this trying time. I enjoyed reading your recent posts and seeing all the Christmas Cheer in your home. Such beautiful descriptions. I especially liked the part about your friend's turquoise bracelet repair and your info in regards to Sleeping Beauty turquoise. Years ago I was able to visit that mine's store and purchased their beads to add to my beading collection. It's sad that it didn't reopen a second time. However, I have to say, the Kingman Turquoise world renowned, is just as wonderful as the Sleeping Beauty and I've purchased from them several times for my jewelry making. I found some differences in colors, but, never a difference in quality. https://www.colbaugh.net/ I think you'll enjoy reading about the stone, history and seeing what they have to offer (not affiliated in any way, just a happy customer). Take good care and thank you for your lovely and interesting posts. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Reni in AZ
