π Last evening Dayle lit a fire for us, I turned on my Christmas music playlist and we spent a lovely few hours enjoying our tree, the fire and our grandson Hayden. My favorite song is by Johnny Mathis, "I'll Be Home For Christmas". Can you share your favorite Christmas song, please?
I'm so grateful that our old house has a fireplace. The sound of the crackling fire, the warmth emanating from it fills me with a feeling of joy and well-being.
When we put the Eastlake etagere in that corner I worried that the tree would smoosh into it and it wouldn't look nice but now I realize how fun it has been to decorate it for the holidays and I love them together.
I was given this by my good friend Sally's heir so it always makes me think of Sally. She was my 2nd in command at Vista House for 15 years when I served as executive director. When it came to me the two finials on the very top were missing and it never looked complete.. SO.. on several occasions I researched on eBay for some to match. Just a week ago I finally found some close enough and these arrived yesterday. I took them into the living room and reached up and gently inserted the first one and it slid down into the hole just so. Ahhhhh. Worth the effort. They are not exactly like the originals, but as they say in the old country "iss goot enuf". Now she looks finished. :-)
I will never forget how long I had to wait for this tree to arrive, but I think it's beautiful, so all is well.
Can you hear the fire crackling and the music playing? :-)
This is my view from my cushy leather chair. What a wonderful time of year!
This photo I found on Facebook today and thought you'd enjoy it. It's of the Christmas Star over Christmas Valley in Oregon. My uncle used to live there for years and Mom would visit often.
Ahhh.. it's been a challenging year so far.. but we're all still here and now we just have to make it through this winter until we can get a vaccine. Be safe and stay well, my friends.

Oh Teresa, since I've actually been there and sat by the tree and the crackling fire, I can more than imagine it. Your home is so beautiful, no matter the season but Christmas is even more special.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found the finishing touch to your Etegere. I can imagine Sally smiling down, knowing how much you love it and that it reminds you of her each time you see it.
My favorite Christmas song. I love so many of them, especially the traditional carols but my favorite is "Mary Did You Know," especially when it's sung by Mark Lowry, the man who wrote it. You can just hear the emotion in his voice. Pentatonix does a great version of it too.
I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow Teresa. It's almost Christmas! Tell Dayle hello from Dennis and I.
Blessings and love,
Betsy
Thanks for inviting us to enjoy your lovely home and friendship via this beautiful post, Teresa! My favorite Christmas songs are Joy to the World and Angels We Have Heard on High. I love seeing the photo you found of the Christmas Star! This year I am especially grateful for the internet as a means of keeping in touch with far flung family and friends! Merry Christmas! ❤️π€π
ReplyDelete"The lights are on at the Christmas tree" - it's hard to name a favorite song, there are so many ... in our newspaper there was a CD with Christmas carols this year, beautiful, many classics ... I have two CDs you can one to get.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful photos from your Christmas living room ... yes, I can imagine drinking an eggnog with nutmeg with you.
Merry Christmas and a warm greeting to you. Viola
I can just visualise that Teresa!! You and your family sat around in such cosy surroundings chatting by the fire. Everything is so beautiful and in all such a wonderful representation of Christmas decor. Many thanks for sharing all this over the last few posts. One my most favourite carols is "So this is Christmas" by John Lennon and preferrably sung by John Lennon or by The Three Tenors Pavorotti,Domingo & Carreras in the Christmas concert in Vienna...fabulous. Wishing you and your family Teresa a very Merry Christmas xxx Amanda x

ReplyDeleteDear Teresa, a very Merry Christmas! Your home is just beautiful, I love to look at all the beautiful items you share. You are the first blog I ever book marked and followed, I loved hearing about your life and seeing all the beautiful things you would find, your travels and your beautiful yard and I wanted to thank so for sharing because it is a definitely inspiring and enjoyable. Oh, and "A Marshmallow World" Dean Martin is one of my favorites. Here's to a very happier New Year for now and the next four! Love!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful and I've really enjoyed watching you decorate it over the last few weeks for Christmas. It makes us all fee 'normal' again. So many of my neighbors here seem to be in a deep funk and have not done any decorating which I think is so sad. My favorite Christmas song is Mele Kalikimaka which I like to play on my ukulele and think about the times long ago when we lived at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii! Peace to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. Your home looks beautiful and very Christmassy!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite carol, like Betsy, is Mary did you know, sung by Mark Lowry who wrote the words and Buddy Greene who wrote the music. They complement each other's voices perfectly. I also like God rest ye merry, gentlemen by Pentatonix, but I just love all Christmas carols and songs. Our daughters say they knew it was nearly Christmas when I started playing the Statler Brothers Christmas album! And I just adore your Santa 'emoji'.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful, peaceful and safe Christmas, when we remember the birth of our Saviour.
Your home looks so cosy and festive. Happy Christmas, Teresa and wishing a Covid-free New Year for the world. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! and cozy Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteOne of my favortes is Whit Christmas by Bing Crosby
Those photos of your living room could be a Christmas card as it is so perfect! My favorite song is "Oh Holy Night" as my Dad sang it every year while my sister played the piano. Sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a terrific Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year!
My mother loved Johnny Mathis. She always said that he was the only man she would leave our dad for...lol. I think she wore grooves in his Christmas album when we were kids. Araignee
