Rounding Up The Week

Happy Friday, dear readers!  I completed two more rows on my Meadow Blanket by Lucy from Attic24.  I'm not a super fast crocheter.  But slow and steady wins the race.. right?

A closer look at the X stitch Lucy devised.

I ordered 2 parchment lampshades for my pair of jadeite lamps and happily they fit and are appropriate size to the lamps.  And my friends, the warm glow in the dining room is so wonderful as it's pretty dark in there during the long winter nights and even all year when the sun sets.  I'm so pleased!

It's so nice to be able to mix my love of jadeite with such useful objects such as lamps.

It used to look so dark in there from my easy chair.  I have one chair where I stash things, don't judge.. :-)

The lilies are opening up and filling the house with perfume and beauty.

Our grandson Caleb asked to spend the night with us so Kristi brought him over yesterday and stayed for a nice visit.  She brought us a plate of breakfast cookies, so thoughtful.  We asked Caleb if he wanted pizza or a drive through cheeseburger and he chose the latter.  After dinner we went to Coastal Farm Supply and picked up 4 bags of chicken food.  When we arrived home this was the scene as I headed to the farmhouse.

I love a sunset by the barn.

Our chickens stopped laying as winter set in, but it's been such a mild winter that a few of them have started to lay!  Yay!

This egg holder even has a story.  It's my "Lady Mary" egg stand.  When watching "Downton Abbey", the episode when Mary helps the farmer with the pigs, they go back to the abbey kitchen where she whips up some scrambled eggs for them and she had an egg holder just exactly like this.. so I did some looking on eBay and found this and now it's mine.  Me and Lady Mary have one thing in common.  :-)

One blue-green egg from one of our Ameracauna chickens.

Well.. that is all my news.. 5 more days.  I hope you are all well and please stay safe.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Those shades are perfect with your Jadeite lamps! I once organized a potluck breakfast at work and one of the teachers brought breakfast cookies. They were a big hit. I'm a little nervous about our inauguration... I hope it is peaceful and uneventful.

  3. Hi Teresa! Those eggs. I remember how good they taste. I would buy them from you if I lived closer...and I'll be moving even further away soon.
Your lamp shades for the jadeite lamps are perfect for them. I'm looking forward to seeing what treasures I'll discover in the house we're hoping to buy. They are leaving all of the furniture, etc. It's like it was made for us isn't it, since we gave all of ours away when we sold the house?
Your blanket is beautiful. The colors are dreamy. Maybe that's a silly word, but it's what I think of when I look at it. I've never seen that stitch before. Is it hard?
I hope you and Dayle have a good weekend and enjoy your cozy home and crocheting. I'm looking forward to spending some time with my honey. I got used to having him here with all of the holiday long weekends. Now he's back to work everyday and they are LONG days. Kisses to Mocha.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. I love that egg holder! I was just commenting to The Mister that so many kitchen scenes involve eggs. There is always a bowl of them somewhere and everyone is either frying or scrambling them. Makes me hungry every time. Araignee

  12. Dear Teresa, your house is so lovely, with all this nice coffee- or tea nooks and colours! My youngest brother lives in the old farmhouse with his family, the house where we all grew up. It is not a farm anymore, but he loves his chickens! Your blanket is gonna be great, I still have to work out what stitches she is using. Did I tell you about our aunty who died recently? We have to sort out her house now. There is no great old furniture, but we found some vintage cross stich, and postcards she recieved as a child, at least 80 years old! We appriciate is, and won't sell. In Holland we had the first snow of the year today! Love, Janneke, The Netherlands.

  14. We were out on a walk this afternoon and stopped to look at the sky with pink clouds. So pretty. I like your egg holder. I've been getting brown eggs at Costco and I enjoy eating them as they are better than the other ones. I looked in one carton and there was a soft pink egg and I picked it up and bottom half a light brown color. I have things stashed on a chair or 2 as well. It's real life! Have a good weekend and don't worry. Be happy!πŸ’œπŸŒˆ Becky

  19. Lovely to see your pretty blanket progress, the light of your new lamps, fresh eggs and a gorgeous sunset! I'm glad you had a good visit with family as well. This week a favorite cousin in Massachusetts who was a year older than me did not survive open heart surgery, but I have been remembering the good times we shared and am so grateful for the contact I do have with loved ones... and my week Zoomed by with some online meetings. Thanks for sharing the beauty around you, Teresa! ((hugs))
