Daffodil Bouquet and Crochet Update

Greetings!  My 2nd blooming daffodils finally opened up so my dear husband brought in a nice bouquet of them for me.  Sweet.

I'm using my peacock vase today.  :-)

It's a gray day here and chilly outside so our pellet stove is burning and warming our hearts and hands.

These early bloomers are so cheerful and I think of the bouquets to come, roses, irises, mock orange, azaleas, rhododendrons and of course our dahlias from our cutting garden.  That is a lot to look forward to.  What flowers do you have in your garden for bouquets?

I have one more color in my blanket to go before I weave in the ends and begin on the last 15 color repeat.. then a border.  Again, doing the blankets is not a race for me so I hardly ever finish on time for the crochet-a-long - but I'm okay with that as I like the process.  :-)

When we were leaving the college campus where I got my Covid vaccine, I stopped the car and snapped this photo of an espaliered tree on this big wall of a building.  I wish I knew what this was as the flowers look like apple blossoms but it seems early for them.  Do any of you gardeners have an idea what this is?

Do you have any weekend plans?  We have our 2 grandsons with us and we're going to make a ham dinner for them.  Maybe a drive up the gorge?  I hope yours is all you hope for.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Gorgeous tree, but I don't know what it is. It's been beautifully trained. I usually grow sweet peas, so hopefully there will be some of them in the summer, also dahlias and cosmos. Hopefully there will be some bees as well. I hope you have a lovely weekend. Time with your grandsons and a drive up the gorge sounds wonderful. CJ xx

  2. Oh that trained tree is gorgeous. I think it is an apple or cherry blossom.
Mmm Ham here too. I ordered it from the deli at walmart. Darned good. Thinly sliced honey ham.
    Would love gorge photos. !

  3. I wonder if it might be a cherry as the horizontal branches are so close together. It’s very pretty whatever it is. Love your daffodils too. Have a good weekend.

  4. I love your blanket! I made the Meadow Blanket colour story version and finished it a couple of weeks ago, but I like the way the colours look on yours, so I'm making a cover for my new bible in your colour way. I have lots of hellebores flowering right now so I might pick a few for a little jug in my kitchen window. Take care and stay safe.

Also the espaliered tree is lovely.
And nothing better than to have enough flowers so you can cut some and bring them in!

  8. I have no idea what the tree is, but it's sure beautiful and unusual in the way it's being trained. The daffodils are gorgeous too.
I laughed at your comment on my post about collecting jadeite. I would like to begin collecting something when we get settled, I'm just not sure what.
Your blanket is looking great. What kind of border will it have?
Take care and have fun with the boys. A ham dinner sounds great. Yum!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  10. Dear Teresa, so lovely to read about your vaccin, your colorfull daffodils, jadeite and blanket!! The pink tree at the wall is so cute! Some kind of cherry? I have to do about 12 colorlines of my blanket before I can start the border! In the mean time I have been working a lot, at school. Kindergarden is part of the primary school and is named first and second group. Some of the classes I know very well, because I go around a lot. Last year with Easter the schools were closed, but now we can tell about it, sing about it and craft about it, which is so great! Weather is still cold, but we see more and more flowers and blossoms, so spring is at the doorstep!! Stay safe, lots of love, Janneke.

  11. Gorgeous daffodils particularly in the jadeite vase. It does look like trained apple blossom, maybe an early variety. Enjoy your grandsons. I’m off to do some seed sewing; sweet peas and tomatoes today. I have some dahlias to plant too. B x

  12. Your daffodils are so pretty! I don't know what that climbing thing is but is's beautiful. The cherries and magnolias are in bloom here finally but that's all in flowering trees. The forsythias are getting ready to pop and that's late for them I think. Araignee

  17. Hello Teresa. Love daffodils. At the moment I have some beautiful double ones in a Cath Kidston jug in front of the woodburner.
I don't really have flowers for cutting in my garden.
I am looking forward to Thursday when I will, fingers crossed, see my son, d.i.l. and grandsons for a few hours, outdoors. It will have been 6 months.😢 we are still not allowed to meet indoors.

  18. Your daffodils look gorgeous in your jadeite vase. So pretty. We had a mixed weekend - gorgeous weather on Saturday and then rain all day today. And cooler temps. The kids are back so we are no longer on cat duty. I will work tomorrow and then Tuesday we get our first vacinnation shot!! Woo-Hoo~~~~

  19. Your daffodils are nice. There are so many in our neighborhood. I have quite a few now. I need to get some more into the ground as 2 are in small pots and still grow good. I need to get a couple more pots for plants as a few are broken due to them being plastic and ice/cold breaks them.
    Your afghan is pretty!!
    I have 2 hellebores. I thought one was a different color but 2nd one came up different than I expected this year. Who knows? Phil was going to go outside this afternoon to take care of some of the cut branches and move them in an area together. They were not removed from our property but it did save us money. Will get it taken care of soon. I was going to go out there as well and work on my potted plants. It poured down rain this afternoon and got colder with some breeze. We decided to stay inside. We did not do much at all today. Enjoyed church this a.m. Have a good week, my friend!!! :'}
