What a week this has been. We had reservations at an oceanfront hotel for my birthday. But I'd been feeling ill for several days so finally we realized we'd have to cancel. :-( On Sunday we called the hospital nurse's help line and after describing everything he said we should really go to the Emergency Room. Which is how I spent my birthday. Checking in, being assessed, getting a CT scan, donning a lovely backless gown, getting an IV inserted, installed in a room, on and on. The final result after being there from Sunday to Wednesday at noon is I have two ulcers in my stomach. I had no idea they were such painful! I've dealt with a lot of nausea and other things you don't want to know about. But today Dayle brought me home and I hope to be on the mend. Apparently my use of Nsaids such as Alleve is what did it. So, be careful and try not to use them. This was the view of Mt. Hood on our drive home. I'm so happy to be in my own home! One of the effects of all this is I've lost my appetite. Dayle made me a grilled cheese sandwich and I could only eat 1/4 of it. Now I have rumblings down there. I will have to Google foods to eat if you have ulcers. Thank you to those of you who have expressed concern to me for being missing. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Thank goodness your ok Teresa ❤❤ And keep improving my friend. I cannot takes NSAIDS as anaphylactic for me.....Anti inflammatory years back and no fun. Yay to being back xoxo
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home! Yes, Nsaids, have to be taken conservatively, My SOn in laws father ended up in the hospital with bleeding, because he used them for a chronic neck problem.
ReplyDeleteI have migraine headaches and take two when the aura begins, and that is all I take, but I take them with a bit of bread so that I have something in my stomach...I would like to take more, but know what they can do to the stomach.
Hope you will be feeling better in no time! I know you have a good nurse at your side, as well as a good cook....take care!
So sorry to hear of your ulcers. I use NSAIDS and even aspirin sparingly, if at all. You will have to have your chef be in charge of your new eating regimen. Glad you only were in the hospital for one day. Be safe and well♥
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear you are on the mend. Positive thoughts and prayers for you.
ReplyDeleteMarion
So glad you’re diagnosed in time. They can be terrible drugs. Get well soon. Beautiful shot of the mountain!
ReplyDeleteOh, dear....I've suffered from ulcers almost all my life. Welcome to the instant mashed potatoes, bananas, cream of rice and scrambled eggs club. Mylanta is my best friend. I keep a nice cold bottle in the fridge where I used to keep my wine...lol.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better soon. They are miserable and the stress of everything we have gone through this past year hasn't helped. I'm pretty sure I've eaten my weight in Tums.
So good to know that you are home and on the mend. It had to be very frightening to go through everything and be in the hospital, too. I take Aleve, too, and will be more cautious about it for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad you're home Teresa. I was so concerned about you. Ignore my text from tonight. I hadn't seen your post yet and I was at Mom's and didn't have my computer.
ReplyDeleteNSAIDS can be bad. I tend to take them for my migraines because tylenol doesn't seem to touch them. After your problems, I'll probably try something else instead. Let Dayle baby you and I hope you're able to eat and pain free very soon. Mocha will be giving you lots of love as I'm sure she missed you a lot. Be well my dear friend.
Blessings, love and hugs,
Betsy
I am glad you are feeling better. I don't take alieve nor ibuprophen. Tylenol only when needed. Nice Mt. Hood view. I always enjoy seeing it. I did get some photos of the pink moon the other night. Rest well and hopefully your stomach will get better with foods. Hugs!!X------X :,}
ReplyDeleteMy GP prescribed Omeprazol to take when I take Ibuprofen for my arthritis, as she said it can cause stomach problems. I now try not to take the Ibuprofen, or only for a day or two. Anyway, glad you're stay was short and at least now you know what it is. Steer clear of acidic foods for a while. xx
ReplyDeleteget well soon! take care
ReplyDeleteVery glad to hear that they have been able to diagnose relatively quickly what the problem was. Carefully does it and get well soon Teresa. Hugs Amanda x
ReplyDeleteThinking of you Teresa and glad you’re home. Hope you are feeling better soon. B x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you've been unwell. It sounds as if you had excellent care, and very good to have a diagnosis. I hope they heal soon for you and that you are back to full strength very soon. Such a shame to miss your birthday treat, I hope you can go another time to make up for it. Look after yourself my friend, sending hugs, CJ xx
ReplyDeleteNot the best way to spend a birthday but good to hear you are now home.
ReplyDeleteDear Teresa, indeed what a week you had! I am sad to hear about your pain and other problems and I am glad the doctors found out what it was and could help you! Now it is time for your lovely Dayle to pamper you and spoil you! <3 I hope you have a nice sunshine, so you can sit on your deck and let the sun warm your face and body! With Mocha on your lap to comfort you! Hope you feel better soon! Thank you for your update and lots of huggs and love! Janneke.
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise for your birthday:( So glad you went though. Now to figure out the rest. Take care:)
ReplyDeleteGosh, you've been through a tough time, so glad to hear you're home and have a diagnosis that makes sense and be worked with. Sometimes these wakeup calls come for us and they open the door to change which can be very beneficial. Sending you loads of love, I hope you begin to feel better as the days go by xxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are on the mend. Knew something was amiss because you are so faithful in your posts. I worried and prayed that it was not something new with your son. Here's to continued good healing.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, Teresa x
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I was just thinking about you this morning and somehow knew you might have had some kind of emergency. I hope you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteTeresa! I am sorry about this... those had to be some long days, and I am glad you are home, again. Thank you for sharing the precaution about those meds. It's so hard to need things that can add other problems, and I hope that you figure out everything that will have you all well, very soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry you were ill - that is certainly not the way to spend your birthday! I bet Dayle will book a belated trip when you feel better. I take a lot of aspirin so now I will have to work on quitting that habit! Thanks for the warning!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, I hope you are feeling better soon. I am surprised the doctors and nurses didn't send you home with a list of foods that you could eat. You take care of yourself now!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you'll be backing your own bed tonight with nurse Dayle looking after you. I was given Naproxen, the UK equivalent for arthritis pain but after 2 attempts I gave up after they upset ny stomach so much. Take care xx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are home, Teresa! Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. I'm praying you will heal rapidly 💞🙏🤗
ReplyDeleteQuerida a iga, que dicha que estas mejor, yo pensaba que no te veia en estos dias. Cuidate

ReplyDeleteOh Teresa! I am so very sorry to read this. I hope by now you are on the mend and feeling much, much better. Please take care of yourself. Happy Belated Birthday!! Not a good way to spend your special day. I do love that shot of Mt. Hood though - so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are not well but glad you are home.
ReplyDeleteOh so sorry you have been "under the weather" Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Ulcers are no fun I hear.
ReplyDeleteHugs Debbi
I’m glad you are back home and getting better. I appreciate your PSA. We take a lot of ibuprofen for headaches. I will try to reduce our intake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad way to spend your birthday! I'm so sorry, Teresa. Hopefully you will learn what you can tolerate eating soon. I'm sure your doctor would help with that. Get better, my friend and happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeletePS--I love the photo of Mt Hood!
Oh Teresa! Im so glad you are not in serious trouble!!!! Happy Birthday . YOu have to celebrate later and twice as much! I know you love our family. I think COVID gave us all ulcers!!
ReplyDeleteDear Teresa so glad you home. What a way to spend your birthday you poor thing. I can't take things like ibuprofen etc as was warned about possible effects. Take care, get well. Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful way to spend your birthday. Is the keto diet any good for ulcers? I do hope you were able to celebrate your birthday properly even if it had to be a little late.
ReplyDeleteThats' horrible news and a terrible birthday. They have found many many people who use Advil (ibuprofen) and end up in the ICU. From regular usage at a prescribed rate.
ReplyDeleteIve been tsk tsk tsk'd and am now only allowedTylenol
Sweet Teresa, you need some family FUN soon!!!!
Please , please , Teresa , be ok ! I have been checking to see if you're back . Just know I am praying that you are better . I love your blog and feel like I know you . Looking forward to soon seeing you back !!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Dayle and family, I'm not sure if you're monitoring Teresas blog especially given these sudden events but I have recently seen the news about the sad passing of Teresa in the comments section of the Attic24 blog. This is devastating and I desperately wish it isnt true. I have followed Teresas blog for years and her posts about her crafts and the goings on of your family and your beautiful garden have warmed my heart. She never failed to pop in and comment on my blog. She was a warm, beautiful lady and I will very much miss her in blogland. I'm sitting here in my home in Melbourne Australia reflecting on how this wonderful woman reached thousands of like minded souls across the world. Sending our deepest condolences from my family to yours, xox Louise
