I actually love this time of year. The house is all lit up and decorated for Christmas and each day I tidy here and there and arrange and re-arrange things. It's cold outside, quiet inside and warmed by the fire. I must say I'm feeling more cheery than I have in a long... LONG time. Want to see a few more things? My Jim Shore Nativity set is a real treasure. I have it set up on my baby grand piano. My long-time readers will remember my Dickens Village Christmas town I used to have there but my dear husband has balked at putting it all up last and this year so I have put this simple nativity there. It's easy and actually calming.
I lit the candles to signify the North Star. :-)
Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus.
Do you have a Nativity set?
Here is a shot of my Dept. 56 Christmas Village I put up two years ago. Click HERE for close-ups of the pieces.
We removed the US flag from the living room and it looks more open now. It's now upstairs.
I have put several low profile things on the TV cabinet so we can still see the television. Since it's so small and all. :-D
My porcelain snow people in a snow bank lit by tea-light candles.
Dayle found my Christmas lithophanes and I just love them lit up.
This is my 2nd one and it has 4 scenes on it so I snapped a photo of each one to show you.
Which is your favorite scene? Mine may be the log cabin with smoke coming from the chimney with a huge skier coming down the hill.
My other porcelain vignette with 3 forest animals roasting marshmallows at the fire. :-)
And my dear sleeping Santa, that was a gift to me from a friend when we were first married, living in Louisiana for 5 years. He's 50 years old!
This is also in our family room, my sister Denise's husband Steve surprised her with this and she told me I must get one as she loves it so much. It's so joyful and the lights blink and the tree rotates, there are skaters on an ice rink below the tree and they go around in circles, even a dog with them. There is a Post Office for mailing your packages and cards to loved ones, a market lady at the window for you to pick up your Christmas goose, and even Santa is there handing a gift to a delighted child. It even plays music.
Skaters going round and round.
Dayle went shopping yesterday for a surprise for me for Christmas, and he texted me this photo and asked if I had these candle holders.. ::GASP::.. my eyes popped out of my head.. I'd been dreaming of having these..
I had to check them out to see if they were okay.. right?
I stuck some candy cane candles in them.
Yep.. they passed inspection. LOL!
They are McKee Laurel Jadeite from the 1930's and glow under a black light.
Well.. that's my story for the day. What are you up to? Do tell. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I was feeling a bit chilled and when I saw your first photo on your blog I had to visit since the scene in your photo made me feel warm and cozy. Your nativity scene is pure beauty. I have two nativity scenes, I do love them.
ReplyDeleteOh another fabulous post Teresa and I too love the log cabin. Would love a cold xmas but summer here but can have a cool day. Luckily we don't live in one of the hotter states. Hot today but cold tomorrow lol
ReplyDeleteLovely! The Nativity is beautiful. Besides yours next to my favorite chair I have a formal looking little glass Nativity scene my niece brought me from a trip she took to Europe years ago...and precious because she thought of me and gave it to me. My favorite view on your lithophanes is the snowmen, I think. Yay for Dayle finding just the right gift for you! Today the box of red beeswax arrived via Amazon so I plan to make some more candles soon thanks to your good coaching. ❤️🤗
ReplyDeleteI swear Teresa, you are the real North Pole!! I love the candlesticks. Sleeping Santa is a favorite and I wish I had one
ReplyDeleteDo you follow pixierustvintage on instagram? her stuff is so vintage and sweet
ReplyDeleteI can't decide between the log cabin scene or the snowmen on your lithophane tea light. I do love snowmen but the cabin is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I like your Jim Shore pieces. The nativity is gorgeous and so is the Santa's sleigh set.
Dayle did a great job picking out those beautiful, beautiful candlesticks. You're certainly finding a LOT of Jadeite!
Stay warm. It's pouring down rain outside and melting all of our snow. Yay! I love the sound on the roof of the trailer.
Blessings,
Betsy
Oh wow! Dayle did good. Those candlesticks are lovely and I really like the candy cane candles. I think the log cabin lithophane is my favorite, too. The nativity looks just right on your piano. All your decorations are so beautiful and festive. No wonder you feel warm and cozy and joyful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Teresa, your house looks cosy and beautifully decorated. I like the simple nativity on your piano (I am with Dayle here, prefer it to the village setup). We have a nativity that my grandmother made but we don't put it up. Too many animals that like to play with the little wooly sheep that are part of the scene. I am a minimalist seasonal decorator, even Christmas, but I do love to see your decorations and how they change over the year. Have a lovely week x
ReplyDeleteSo many treasures!! I was just looking at You Tube videos that folks have taken of their holiday decor and I think you've got them all beat! Araignee
ReplyDeleteMy brother and his wife fill their whole living room with a Christmas village. It is amazing and they add more every year. They have a sign inviting people to walk up to their bay window and take a look. Also, they have decorated every room in their home and have several Christmas trees. Your decorations are so lovely and I can tell you enjoy each one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I think my favourite is the log cabin too. Dayle is such a sweetheart finding those candlesticks for you, they are stunning. Love the nativity set too, it looks right at home on your piano. You have a beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteWas that nice ... thank you very much Teresa. I almost mean a walk in Christmas land. It's good, thank you, because we don't have any Christmas exhibitions, Christmas markets or Christmas concerts now. I like the two kids with the snow shovel and I like family room ... so much to see great.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I like the nativity scene on the piano.
The candy cane candles are very pretty, never seen them before, maybe there is somewhere? Because of all the enthusiasm I can't tell you about myself ... we had the sun all day today and I was walking in the forest ... it was nice and then I ate the English Christmas cake and drank coffee.
Greetings to you. I look forward to coming again. Viola
Hello Teresa, You have some beautiful decorations. I think that you and Dayle are really Mr and Mrs Claus :-)
ReplyDeleteI have several nativity pieces. I usually set up a village scene on my dresser but this year have not had the enthusiasm and so some things have not been put out.
I love all the Lithophanes but have always wanted to stay in a cabin, in the snow.
Take care and stay safe. Anne x
What treasures you have to enjoy at this special time of year. My favourite is the light with Santa in his sleigh and the reindeer. B x
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely holiday decorations and pieces Teresa. Very pretty new candle holders!! I think Dayle spoils you....
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty and festive at your place, Teresa. You have so many pieces that are gorgeous! How lovely to add to your jadeite with those candlesticks. I really like the candy cane candles!
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of your decor and how you have it displayed in your home. You can tell you truly enjoy your home. Thank you for linking up and thank you for the Christmas card. I loved receiving it!
